i had a great time staying at grand continental. the room was spacious with sofa and coffee table,equipped with kitchen pantry,stove, microwave, sink and fridge. the bathroom was clean with lavish amenities, constant flow of hot water and towels. i definitely will stay here again!

Great location but very uncomfortable bed

This was the second time I stayed here attracted by the location which is within easy walking distance of an underground, on Beijing Road only a block from the walking/shopping street and 250m north of the Pearl River cruise terminal. We were on the 36th floor which gave good views over the river (it wasn't hazy this time) and the room was large and well appointed. Unfortunately the bed was extremely hard which may have been caused in part by the failure to remove the plastic packing from the mattress. It would be better if a coverlette was provided to soften the bed as we did not sleep at all well
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Walk down to the pier (300m down Beijing Street) and take a cruise on the river. The important thing to know is that the higher ticket price gives you the best view. VIP tickets are best and on a clear night the older (junk style) boat is the best value as you sit outside on the upper deck without obstructions such as windows. Also not that the stretch of Beijing street down to the pier is the entertainment area with good quality nightclubs

Irritating housekeeping

the location is good as there is an accessories wholesale centre right next to it. you can find cheap silver jewellery, bags, wallets, belts and mobile accessories there.
wifi is only available in the lobby, not in the rooms. you have to warm up the water heater 20mins before bath, which is inconvenient when you are sharing the room with your friend.
the chambermaids came into our room early in the morning while we were still sleeping, for 2 consecutive days! they should have checked if the guests are in the room before coming in. who on earth will do housekeeping early in the morning? it is common sense to do housekeeping in the afternoon when the guests are out!

when we first arrived at the hotel in the wee hours, we were told that our agoda booking could not be found in their system and they would have to wait for office hours for their colleagues to check with agoda. they would put us up for the night, however we do have to pay for a night's cost in which they will refund to us when they have verified our booking with agoda. the entire process was almost hassle-free for us and did not caused us any unnecessary inconvenience.
hotel room was really spacious and clean. it was really cold at night but there were comforters in the cupboards and extra pillows as well. wifi was only available at the lobby. there was only lan access in the hotel rooms.
not exactly a good hotel for people who are there to pick up wholesale items to ship back to their native country as the hotel does not provide storage space at the lobby. however, they may be kind enough to allow you to leave the goods at the lobby just for a few hours.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Remember to set the heater back up after a shower as it is not likely that the second person who showers soon after would have enough hot water.

We were booked for a superior room and they upgrade us to a deluxe room. We were so happy but upon viewing, the room they gave us was like condominium unit with a small window and view of nowhere. We were thinking of transferring but decided to stay since the room was fairly clean and the purpose was just sleeping. We stayed for 5 nights and arrived in the hotel late and leave early in the morning daily.

location is excellent and rate is affordable. easy to access either haizhu square subway or gongyuanqian subway, it is ideal place if you like bulk buy. highly recommended.
