Good location and well decorated A lot of construction work around, noisy and dusty at the moment. The interior environment of the hotel is excellent. Rooms are spacious and well decorated. Staff are polite and what you requested or asked will be immediately responded.Besides, facilities are excellent. Though you find the meals a bit expensive, you will eventually find it worth what you have paid. I would recommend you to stay there later after the completion of the construction.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : It is situation at ShaMin along the Pearl River.

Clean, good broad band connection, excellent reception & cashier counters, availability of taxis Food in cafe is not fantastic although the Japanese restaurant is quite good.
Food in the Chinese restaurant is ok. This is the third time that I stayed in White Swan Hotel, Guangzhou. The hotel has good arrangement for transport to exhibition center and easily available taxi service.
The reception and cashier counters work efficiently and checking in and out pose no problem.
The room is always clean and the facilities like airconditioning/plumbing/etc are working well.
Restaurant Tip : Restaurants at the back of hotel.

The fruits which kept on the front desk. Breakfast,should provide more items for Muslims,means other than pork meat. Breakfast must be complimentry with the room stay.

It is always a pleasure to see the parents with their newly adopted children. The ambience and location of the hotel is ideal. Good proximity to doing business and then to return to the hotel and to enjoy the evening water-activity on the river.
Staff are so courteous and always willing to assist.
This is a great place.

The rooms facing the river are ideal for viewing the river activity. Room service is good, consistent and timely. Our stay was most enjoyable. Food quality and service is excellent. Staff level assistance is as good as it gets. Variety of eateries is very good and can feel like can eat every meal in the hotel.
You feel the grand style of this hotel though it is old, it is very well maintained. Enjoyed the openess of the hotel and ability to lounge from time to time.

Location, ambience & river view. Surrounding area was under construction so made it a little difficult during this time, but not hotel's fault. This was our second visit to the White Swan. Will return again in the future because of the staff, service, locale and amenities.
Hotel Feature Tip : Get a river view room. It is an interesting site to see the people and river activity.

Rooms are clean and nice. The hotel has its own ferry to the canton fair. Free gym. The restaurants are a bit expensive. The beds are hard, but that is the custom in China. The staff's English could have been better. We stayed at the White Swan in Oct. 2009 during the Canton Fair, and we generally was very pleased with our stay. The hotel has their own ferry to take you to and from the Fair, which was great because the traffic in Guangzhou is terrible.
The rooms are nice and clean. They have a great variety of restaurants and "good" buffets, but a bit on the expensive side. The dinner buffet was $80 per person. The hotel is located on a small, sort of pictoresque island, and it was nice to go jogging in the mornings. It has a good gym with free access. The staff is courteous and helpful.

Love the area. In the congestion of Guangzhou, it is so nice to return to the riverside. The staff are always so nice and helpful. Even though the Canton Fair is far away from the White Swan now, it is such a great way to start the day to take the hotel provided ferry to the show. Wish their was wireless in the rooms or the cord was longer so could relax in bed and work. Also think it is time to have the internet for free. Most hotels in China have gone to free internet.
Food expensive in restaurants and breakfast on ferry is very expensive. The White Swan has been around for 25+ years and still remains one of my favorites. Ive tried others and keep coming back. Love the ferry ride to The Canton Fair and glad to see that they offer the ferry during Phase II and Phase III this season.
Prefer Riverview rooms and worth the little extra to get it. Rooms are big, beds are hard as are all beds in China but not as hard as other hotels.

Excellent service from front desk Maintenance and inforce of no smoking area such as no smoking floors also dining room smoking section should be separate (table should not be placed next to the non-smoke) Restaurants are nicely decored but prices are kind of in the moon. Used to have excellent service from every guest floor which is now gone and room service is not quite like before (2 years ago, which I noticed last year. I hear that they are in the process of planning to renovate and it's time to do in order to keep the hotel's image.
Shopping Tip : Easy to go around with taxi if you know the way there are good shopping area behind the hotel 10-15 minutes of walking

The number of international travelers staying there. The room appearance. the large pool. Prices for restaurants, especially breakfast. We stayed at the White Swan hotel from 15 Oct 2009- 21 October 2009 for the adoption of our son. There were many adoption families from all over the world which made it a very comfortable stay. The room was adequate and clean. Water was provided daily. The pool was very nice and clean. We enjoyed the hospitality of the staff. Our only complaint would be the cost of the restaurants. We chose not to eat any meals there because we felt the price was too high. There was an international trade fair going on, so maybe the prices were inflated because of that. I think $34 per person for breakfast and $54 per person for lunch is a bit high. So, other than the cost of food, we would definately stay at the White Swan in the future. There are plenty of other great eating establishments on the island.
Restaurant Tip : Lucy's was great. We ate there 5 times.

Perfect location, riverview is nice. direct ferry to the fair is perfect! Breakfast.. restaurant close to the hotel "Lucy's" was much reasonable choice.. I have been in Quangzhou 8 times now, stayed in different 5 star hotels. Really loved the location of the hotel and the way how they are quarding the "island" no beggars, clean, etc. Also there was direct ferry going to fair from the hotel, that was nice opportunity. Shops in the hotel were not the best choice, more like commercial excibition. Eating, I preferred restaurant near the hotel, "Lucy's" was good choice! Taxi was always available and hotel was well known for taxi drivers. Overall, next stay will be there for sure!!

Nice pool, good view overlooking Pearl River, tasty breakfast buffet, and pleasant location on the very scenic Shamian Island hotel is old and could use an update, tv small in the room, one pool does not get much sun, health center does not have much equipment I've stayed at the White Swan hotel a number of times now and I really like it. The rooms generally have a nice view. Either you overlook Shamian Island or the Pearl River. Being that it is on Shamian Island there are a lot of nice historical places to see as this was the first place for Western countries to establish embassies in China. That being said it is especially nice for foreigners (namely english-speakers). The only downside is that the hotel has aged a bit and could use a major update, but it's easy to get past that and appreciate all it's good qualities.

Beautiful hotel, excellent location The rooms are a bit outdated in decor, though the rest of the hotel has recently been remodeled. We love staying at the White Swan when in China for our adoption trips, or just when traveling. It is a gorgeous hotel, in a wonderful location on the beautiful, peaceful Shamian Island. It is relaxing to walk around the island and shop at the abundant souvenir shops, don't forget to bargain!
Restaurant Tip : For REAL American food, take a cab to Danny's Bagels (www.dannysbagel.com). The pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches, and imported American root beer can't be beat when you are tired of eating Chinese or American fast food (i.e. McDonald's and KFC).
