Fubo Hotel is a great bargain! The location is just opposite the Li River and within walking distance of many sights, restaurants and nightlife.
It would be nice if they provided some type of airport shuttle at a reduced price but all-in-all, we found no weaknesses.
We stayed 3 nights at the Fubo Hotel and were very pleased with the service, location and the room view. We could walk to Fubo Hill, a great Chinese restaurant called McFounds, several nice coffee bars and the 'walking' street in Guilin. Being Mid-Autumn Festival, we really enjoyed the evening walking along the Li River and admiring the lanterns floating in the evening sky!
Restaurant Tip : Walk down Banjiang Lu a couple of blocks and enjoy a nice Irish Whiskey for only 20RMB. McFounds is just around the corner and very good.

Right on the Li River, rooms are a good size and it is cheap. Pretty close to the major downtown areas and it is a nice walk along the river to get there (about 10-15 minute walk depending on where you want to go). Cabs are fairly cheap with 7RMB flag fall, this basic fare will take you to pedestrain street and some of the more central hotels. There was a flash flood while we were there and the section of the road that the Fubo was on was on the higher ground, so the street was not flooded, which was more than I could say for the Sheraton and Eva Inn.
The hotel was a little dated and could use improvements and the hotel shop on the lobby level was fairly expensive
Overall, it was worth the money to stay here, there are no major frills but it was clean and well located. Also, our room had a great view of the Li River, which was nice for the price we paid. At first, we were given a room with two single beds when we asked for one double or queen, but I went to the desk and they immediately changed the room. Service was pretty good. Overall, I would reccommend it.
Restaurant Tip : There is a great, clean and cheap Chinese restaurant around the corner called McFounds (I know, funny name!) It has pictures and English on the menu and serves great food. Just turn right out of the hotel and then right down the first side street and it is just a little ways down on the right side. We ate there twice it was so good!
