This hotel is not near the westlake but it is next to Wart Mart shopping centre with all groceries.
They also got a great SPA.

The hotel is well located if you need to work in the north part of Hangzhou. The personnel is nice and the rooms are comfortable. For tourists, it needs 30 min of taxi (30-40rmb) to drive to Western lake.

the vanwarm is a very nice hotel and the staff tries very hard to accommodate business travelers needs. the location is not particularly good for tourist but works very well for my business needs. rates are very reasonable and the second floor lobby bar provides a good place for brief meeting with business associates. i have tried numerous other hotels in hangzhou and especially in the west lake area but the vanwarm works best for me. the hotel food overall is good but the room service menu could stand some updating as it has bene the same for the last 3 years. the breakfast buffet is quite good with a good assortment.

We found the staff helpful and polite. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. The buffet breakfast has a good combination of Western and Chinese. Location is next to a Wal mart which was helpful but a bit away from the town centre. As foreigners only complaint was the lack of any English TV. These days that should be standard

hotel is clean and well maintained. service is suffisient for the four star hotel.breakfast included for two persons was ok.wall mart supermarket in the same building is very convinient. it is in some 15 minutes drive by car from down town.we would stay in that hotel again if we visit hangzhou again.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Lakes district is very biutifull.Recommended.

The rooms and the showers are very nice and clean and the hotel service is very prompt.
However it takes about 25 min by taxi and 35 mins or more by bus to get to the major tourist area and food location of Xihu.
The area around the hotel itself has a Wal-mart, but not too much more than that.
Bottom Line: A very nice hotel to relax in,

i stay regularly in this hotel and it is very convenient for business. not far from airport by taxi and close to ningbo and huzhou motorways.
english speaking people ok except sometimes for room service calls.
