Crowne Plaza Hotel City Centre Changsha, Hunan

This was a very nice hotel. I only stayed for one night so my experience is not based on a long term stay. This hotel was the lowest priced hotel that normally serves Westerners. I was quite surprised to find the room even more accommodating then that of the much more famous Dolton hotel. The Crown Plaza is located very near the city center and you can find just about anything within walking distance. The so called "business street" is only about 2 short blocks away and a person wanting to do a little shopping can find just about anything there including a Wal-Mart. A few blocks in the other direction will take you to a very old part of the city with small little shops that seldom see foreigners. A 5 minute walk will take you to the Fire God temple and 1/2 block from there you can eat dumplings at a place that I believe has the best dumplings in all of Hunan. Another short walk in the other direction takes you to the Xiang Jiang river where you can find a beautiful river walkway and park. I did not eat at this hotel so I will not rate the food but you can find just about anything within walking distance. Be prepared for hot, spicy Hunan style food though. I would recommend this hotel. It is new and the price was right.
