smelly rooms, bad service

the room smelled of smoke even though we asked for a non-smoking room. receptionist had bad attitude and was in a hurry to get rid of us. she refused to answer our questions about nearby restaurants, sights, etc. and simply said she didn't know anything.

Comfortable place, you can fell its age

When i came first to kunming Hotel,i thought i was somewhere in Russia in ancient times. The lobby is really big, very pompous. Staff is friendly and even speaks a few words in english. You can feel the age of the Hotel,nevertheless it is a friendly and clean place.
Breakfast is great,although prices at the bar a way to high as they drop by factor 10 once you get 10 meters away from the Hotel and make yourself comfy in one of the local restaurants.
