New Era Hotel Kunming Info
Located in Kunming city center, this hotel is popular for its onsite hot spring and proximity to shops, restaurants and transport. A free shuttle to and from the airport is just one of the features that keeps this place in high demand, another is its enviable location, right at a large pedestrian square with markets, bars, high-end restaurants and fast food joints. A little further afield, guests will find the Bird and Flower Market plus mazes of small alleys, where vendors set up stalls full of local foods and handicrafts. Jin Bi Square is a few minutes’ walk down the road, a beautiful landmark that features impressive Chinese architecture. Centrally located, super good value for money, very friendly and helpful staff, very clean room. No internet in the room but you can use at the business center. Many smoking guests, hotel allows them to smoke in the lobby, may be not too good for a non smoker. My stay at the New Era Hotel was simply wonderful. ! Room was very clean, staff were so friendly and very helpful, especially the reception and the door man. I arrived very early in the morning they allowed me to check in at 9am, the next day I had to catch an early morning flight, taxi was bit to difficult to find early morning in Kunming, but the doorman and the receptionist were so helpful, the doorman run to get me a taxi to ensure I was not late for my flight. The housekeeping staff; excellent, clean and tidy my room so neatly and efficiently. The business center staff, although speak very little English tried so hard to help for my internet connection. I am a general manager of a 5 star hotel, I'm so impressed. I must congratulate the management of New Era Hotel, I know that the level of service and more importantly caring staff reflects the professionalism of the management. Adi: Bali

The Room was Great, the Food was Great, the Location is Perfect. This was the best stay so far in China, i even booked an extra night after my trip out to Shilin.
The breakfast options were the best i have come across and it was included in the rate. The F&B team were always helpful and the food was good.
The porters took good care of the bike.
I found the location great and the language barrier was not an issue as a staff member was always available to bridge the gap.

Great breakfast with lots of variety, very helpful personalized service for families with little ones, central location (downtown Kunming), A tad pricey for the average international traveler, wish they had a pool! We are really glad we decided to stay at the New Era even though it's a bit pricier than the average decent hotel in China. The central location (getting a cab right outside was always pretty easy), the personalized service (we got milk and fruit for our daughter every day for free, and even a stuffed animal from the attendant!), the great breakfast options, and the clean and modern rooms made it worth the extra money. Plus booking on Agoda was super easy. The only things we would change are the prices (wishful thinking probably) and to install a pool. One time a maintenance worker was nailing down a piece of carpet while my daughter was napping so I asked him to wait 1/2 hour and he obliged in a very apologetic manner--I couldn't believe it! Very impressed with the service.
Hotel Feature Tip : If you've got a baby they bring you milk every day, but if you don't need that, they can substitute orange juice or yogurt for milk--which our daughter preferred! Also for English speakers you can request an English-language newspaper instead of the Chinese one. Just ask!
