Not a nice hotel. Terrible service - calls to room service went unanswered - calls to the front desk to ask about room service were rebuffed, telling me they couldn't help find why room service wasn't answering. Front desk refused to help call for a taxi because they said I wasn't going far enough and they didn't want to bother the taxi company. When asking for name of uncooperative clerk, she refused to give it to me. Stay anywhere else.

good! - but not as luxury as it looks like
very good position for a visit of the longmen grot

bus station is directly in front of the hotel: no. 81 to longmen grots and in the other direction to railway station
the luoyang longmen railway station for high speed trains is only a few minutes by taxi
the (very small) airport is about have an hour by taxi, in rush hour probably longer
they offer breakfast, but in chinese style, so as a western visitor you should not expect the breakfast your are used to
they don´t offer dinner and there´s no restaurant nearby so you should care about your hunger elsewhere or you can the watercooker to make dinner yourselve
only one staff member speaks english (but her english is very good, so if you meet her quickly ask her everything you need, as she might disappear very quickly)
here is a tip for all tourist who are in xi´an:
if you only want to visit the longmen grots in luoyang (and they are by far the absolute highlight), you can do it on a day trip from xi´an. take an early highspeed train from xi´an north railway station to luoyang longmen and do the same way back later in the evening
all in all i recommend this hotel for a stay but if you look closer it is not that luxury as it looks like but you it´s clean and you can feel very comfortable
p.s.: if you search the internet cable have a look in the drawer of your desk

Longmen grots! (My personal highlight in china) bus no. 81 to final station and after a few meters through the pedestrian street you are there
