Food - there are 4 different areas to eat, an amazing barbeque, Korean, Chinese and Western Food - all were excellent The Pool is massive and you can swim there until 11 PM at night, two seperate pools, one of children and parents and one for adults, lifeguards on duty all day long Rooms were a nice size and reasonably clean, balconies were a nice plus. Beer - home brewed locally, bitter but nice Beach- there is a shuttle to take you to the beach which is a 10 minute walk down a nice path around the bay Markets- there are two local markets close to the hotel within 10 minutes walking distance away Fish Therapy - where you can relax and enjoy fish eating away your dry skin (I did not try this but my friends really enjoyed it) Service at the pool was horrible, we had to go and get our own drinks and they forgot we ordered drinks one time and the other time they brought them all over to us at different times when it was just poured out of a jar in the fridge and the bar was not busy! The floors in our rooms were not the cleanest and we had some algae growing out of our toilet. Towels are one per person and are not available at the pool so you are constantly asking someone to come and change your towels for you. Deposit - We were contacted at 10 PM at night on two occassions to come and settle the bill as we were over the amount of money we had put down for a deposit which was not explained to us when we checked in, we had signed everything on our room for our meals and were only about $30 over the deposit and found this quite inconvient to try and settle at this hour of the night I stayed at the Cactus Resort with 2 friends in my room and 2 friends in another room in October 2009. The weather was humid, and windy and very enjoyable and the sun was very hot (bring strong sunscreen as it is $30 American at the resort). We found the check in to be a little slow, but enjoyed looking around the huge lobby while we waited and eating the butterscotch candies they had at the counter. We headed straight for the pool and were pleasantly suprised by how lush and beautiful the landscape was around the hotel, the size of the pool, the cleanliness and that fact that there were two lifeguards on with one for each pool; one pool for children and parents, the other for adults. The fresh juice seemed like a good idea by the pool but it ended up taking half an hour to get 5 drinks and they all came spuradically rather than all together at the same time which was disappointing. We enjoyed the poolside but found that there were not quite enough chairs around the pool to lounge in as we were a group of 5 so we sat on one while the others scoped for people leaving. We really enjoyed the pool and used it quite a lot during our holiday day and night. The night time swimming was wonderful and we enjoyed all the lighting they had around the pool. We ate at the hotel quite often and enjoyed all of the meals we had, there were absolutely no complaints in that department. There was an English movie channel in the room to watch which was free, a nice tub and bathroom, beautiful thick towels, soft linens and a great balcony with a view of the pool. The beds were soft (not always common for China) but the extra bed they put in the room was probably one of the worst pull out cots I have even slept on (or not slept in)! The hotel was quiet and peaceful and the staff for the most part were very accomodating and helpful. I enjoyed my stay immensely and would definitely stay here again!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : We found a beautiful mall that we did not know anything about our first 3 nights we were there and only discovered it all too late. I forget the name of the place but it was to the right of where the main road was for the beach and about a good 15 minute walk down the road. It was circular in the center and had a Merry-Go-Round around the outside of the area and had tons of restaurants, ice cream, clothing, and a few other shops inside. We wished we had known about this mall earlier in the week for eating out, but we did enjoy the meals we had at the Cactus Resort. We did eat one meal at the Universal Hotel, but found the buffet way over priced and were highly disappointed with the variety of food as well as the freshness. Most of the seafood had a very fishy smell to it which generally suggests that the food is not fresh but rather frozen previously. We also had to pay a service for the waiters but we had no one wait on us during our meal. I would not recommend eating any meals at the Universal hotel even thought it is close to the Cactus Hotel.

The hotel was beautiful and room cleaniness was great I did not get the room i reseverd for they gave me another room and can't tell if it was same or better than room i reserved for.
Lunch and Dinner Buffett was not good for the amount of money we paid for, and out of the whole staff of waiters and waitress only 1 male watier attend us and 1 young male cook, promply cooked out meal, other waitress were lazy and seemed to be to much hassle to provide us tooth picks, salt and pepper had to ask several times for these items and to expensive to eat there , to far from site seeing had to take taxi and it cost arm and leg we wanted to go to other cities but they say only by taxi so it was terrible site to be Hotel is good but meals to expensive, location ok if your only staying in the room
Travel tip : Nothing you had to take taxi for site seeing tours it far from hotel and can only take taxi for site seeing to other cities and staff that was there to provide trips always said take taxi to far and were lazy to really help us i guess they were there to help the russian people because they had signs and people for russian citizen only

Outdoor Dining
Combining the chinese Menue and the Choice of a BBQ on the outdoor terrace made for a pleasant Meal setting
The wait staff very attentive polite and effective The setting a little back from the beach easily compensated by the regular shuttle service Witha backdrop of peaceful green hills the Cactus is certainly a relaxing resort to spend a few days. Rooms of good size ,well serviced and very clean,
Staff at front desk very helpful and willing to work thro our requests utilizing what English speaking staff available
Travel tip : If you wish to use the Fish massage it cast RMB 70 for 30 mins ..other hotels provide this attraction FOC
