Great hotel at an affordable price

The hotel was great, close to lines 1 & 7 and great bars and restaurants. Only thing that I would suggest is to have hotel Wi-Fi available as I live on my ipad and iphone for business and had to resort to staying in my room to be connected to a cable.

We had a great time here, it is nestled in a very nice area with French cafes and shops
Staff are friendly, easy to get taxi. We enjoyed watching weddings while having tea and coffee in the foyer - very nice.
Shopping Tip:
The little boutiques around these streets are very affordable with one off pieces.

The Pros we have listed pretty much some up My wife's and my views of the Anting Villa. Not being able to afford the prices on the Bund, we wanted to be in the former French Concession. The Anting villa was recommended in two of our guidebooks and noted for excellent value. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It's on a quiet street but only two blocks from a major Metro line stop (Hengshan Road) and only slightly farther from a Metro stop (Shanghai Library) on the line that comes directly from Hongqiao Airport. We were able to Metro in from the airport, check into our room as soon as we got there -- earlier than in most hotels would allow -- and quickly get ourselves off by Metro to People's Square, Nanjing Road and the Bund.
The staff was helpful in all respects and went out of their way to respond to a few unusual requests of ours. The lobby was elegant and bar area well appointed. Breakfast was not included. We had coffee, buns and yogurt that we bought at a nearby store in our room; but there were plenty of good places to get breakfast nearby, and we could have paid a little over $10 for breakfast at the hotel if we wished. There's a Starbucks and nightspots on Hengshan Road, and the old Catholic church, now functioning as a church, is nearby.
In short, we thought Anting Villa exceeded our guidebook's recommendations and would recommend it to anyone wishing to enjoy the quiet of the French Concession while paying a extremely reasonable price for a Shanghai hotel.
