Nice Exterior Hotel
The location is not near any train station so the best way to get to the hotel will be by a cab. It is location 5mins away from the bund. Room size is ok but the wall is thin and we can hear people talking outside our room as they walk pass.

Historical Iconic, Clean, Great Design, Good Upkeep, Worth For Money
This is my second time stay this Hotel. Take a walk floor by floor by staircase, you will found surprise. Front of Hotel is WaiBaiDu Steel Bridge, shanghai bund is just walking distance around 2-3 minutes. Shanghai Cuisine best restaurant just beside of this hotel.

Location, history, door staff
Good stay at well located historic hotel. Poor English language skills of staff. Some dining room staff grumpy especially if you were late down for breakfast, difficulty in getting cutlery and a place set to eat breakfast! Attitude needs attention as in welcoming faces not long faces. Door staff very helpful and friendly. My room had damp in walls and wallpaper lifting off on wall facing street. Why the need to wake a guest to offer written advise on weather? Slip this under the door! Guests maybe recovering from hours of sightseeing and shopping!

Staff could do you some more training
location, its character and old charm
The hotel is a beautiful grand old hotel, rooms are great size. The location is great and only a couple of minutes walk to the Bund. The breakfast caters for many tastes which was great and the coffee was very nice. But the guy that was cooking the omelettes and scrambled eggs for breakfast was often picking his nose while cooking. That was very disgusting, also a couple of the other waitresses were picking at there eyes, rubbing there hose and playing with there hair. I think they all need to have some training on hygiene practises while handling food. One of the managers was even smoking in the hallway that leads from the dinning room to kitchen while I was trying to eat breakfast. The dinner room walls where breakfast is served need to have a thorough clean, especially the hallway where the manager was smoking, its very dirty there. Most of the other staff were not friendly enough towards guest. To say good morning or hello isn't difficult. I did find the younger guy that worked on the front door most mornings was nice and very helpful. I cant remember his name but he would always say good morning and would get a taxi for me which I appreciated. The restaurant/cafe on the ground floor was also nice. The hotel is a nice old hotel but it does need to be cleaner in areas. I also think the hotel would greatly benefit if the staff including the managers had some good training in hospitality and food handling. I hope they can sort out these issues quickly.
