Close to central Shanghai walk to Nan Jing Road Rooms are spacious with good facilities Coffee shop on hotel is good

Staff were less helpfull than some hotels I have stayed in China Bed was a little too hard for my taste

This is an elegant building, 1934 vintage, that has been revamped. I am a business traveler with some experience in China, so if you are a first time China visitor bear this in mind when reading my comments. This hotel is close to the Bund and Nan Jing Road, which you can walk in about 10 minutes. Breakfast is good and the coffee is drinkable, but you can get a good coffee from the lobby coffee shop. The Japanese resturant in the Hotel, is expensive and not a traditional Japanese style, it is very much a china stlye Japanese resturant. Staff are very helpful and have good english. It will stay here again.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : If you are a first time visitor, Oriental Pearl TV tower is close to this hotel and worth a look to see all of Shanghai form the skydeck.

For some other time the location would have been great. As it was the location was O.K. The value for the facitility was good, and the general customer help was fine

On several occasions the concierge station provided information which cost us several hours of searching for a destination which should have been avoided. The coded access in the elevator to the floors was very annoying to most everyone. The coded cards seldom held the coding for longer than a day or even less.

The location was at the end of a famous location called The Bund. That is why we selected the place. However, neither the travel service, Agoda nor the hotel mentioned that the entire Bund area, streaching about 3 kilometers was closed to the public and under constructive renovation. This was our entire reason for locating here. Certainly we found other things to do. This construction and access exclusion will continue for another 8 - 10 months.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Sight seeing attractions were either within walking distance or accessable by Metro. The city stays in the smog / haze most of the time. In 5 days we never saw a clear day.

15 min walk to nanjing road & the bund good price for the location some restaurant nearby

not many stores nearby, the nearest you have to talk a walk to nanjing road

I stayed in this hotel before, and basically is quite convenient. The price is pretty good, the hotel is quite old but they decorated it quite okay for me. There is not many stores nearby and you have to walk about 15 min to Nanjing Road, but behind the hotel there is an alley where there are plenty of food. I would recommend this hotel for those who are budget conscious.

Art Deco ytyle\ngreat views\nnice people

expensive Lobby Bar

Phantastic 1930-Art Deco Hotel with great views of the Bund and the skyline of Pudong. The Lobby, the restaurant and the Bars show the phantastic atmosphere of this marvellous period. The rooms are absolutely great, spacious, with nice Art Deco furniture, the bath is something extraordinary, great renovated with just the right mix of Art Deco and new features. Breakfast with great views!

Nightlife Tip : The glamour Bar at the Bund

Riverside view (but now not!!!) classic and noble constructure

Too far from subway station. Internet connection is wired only and too slow. (110RMB/day)

I stayed from 8-sep,2008 2 nights. Now in front of the hotel, old bridge was beign removed, and still under construction to construct the new bridge. So noisy from morning to night. And not easily to access the Bund area, due to no bridge...Need enroute.

Terrible location. the main bridge access is now closed so it is expensive to go anywhere in the taxi. There is no restaurant at the hotel, not even for breakfast.

Equipment, seems to respond and the level of a four-star hotel that meets all of the real advantages is that the interior maintains the original building as possible. The interior remains as the radiator all the way to the rooms of the original oil. (Separate air-conditioned) riverside landscapes of the band's exquisite. Riverside泊MARUBEKI to it.

The food is better than no hope.
