A good little place for a weekend stay in Shanghai. Enjoyed the location and the area around the hotel. Lots of good cages, restaurants, and bars in the area.

Good location with many restuarants nearby.
More than 10 restuarants/cafes around the area. There is a club that open till late, just look for the cab queuing to pick up customers.

Easily more than 10 restaurants/cafes along Donghu Road. There is a local club which is about 5mins walk away, it is still crowded at around 3am. The room is average standard with everything working as it is, only point to note is that I personally feel the heater is too warm and unable to change the temperate.

This hotel was overall a good value for travelers. I had a standard room and it was clean and well-maintained, if a bit run down (e.g. carpets are worn). The location of the hotel is excellent for many of the attractions in Shanghai. The one big downside for me was the lack of wifi in the rooms.

Well located
French concession at your doorstep

This is o a good option if you would like to stay in the French Consession. There is a Deli style outfit attached, and culinary opportunities are nearby. Lots of great walking around. Central to Shanghai.

having been to shanghai may times, but looking for a more cost efficient option for hotel accommodations, i found what i was looking for with the Donghu Guest House. centrally located, there are many restaurants in the immediate area, taxis easy to find, and several subway stations within short walking distance.
The Donghu Guest House has two room type options and i've seen them both. One is small, but comfortable and the other is larger, but will cost you more. Since I don't spend much time in the room, the smaller one was fine.
Service is friendly and attentive. I plan to make this my first choice for hotel accommodation whenever on a budget.
Travel tip:
WIFI no available in the rooms, but can be found in the lobby coffee shop and restaurants next door.
