Beautiful setting, but poor service

The Fenyang is set in the spectacular gardens of an old colonial property. Sadly, the service and services are lacking. There is but one small 'restaurant' serving a limited buffet in the morning and a tennis court. There is also a 'cafe/bar' in the old residence, but it is poorly advertised/promoted and thus appears largely deserted. This is sad as it is easily the nicest part of the hotel . Unfortunately for us, it also happened to be unseasonably warm during our stay and the aircons in both rooms did not work. Despite complaining to the front desk, nothing was done and we had to suffer another night as the windows are small and do not open wide.

it is nice stay .. room are big and clean at quiet place at nice location. worst is their wifi.. infact you can say they don't have wifi.. shortage of english speaking staff.
Shopping Tip:
wonderful location , lots of restaurants and coffee shop. nearby is all big stores for shopping.

I have travelled widely for 40 years and can say I found this hotel one the best hotel experiences I have had. I cannot find fault with anything. A beautifully finished 5 star experience for a three star price. As the Chinese would say
Specially of noble and refined atmosphere to you of peculiar fragrance of flow into you with your paces into the garden. The busy Shanghai at door to encounter you from old original style of Shanghai. Music, lawn and colorful garden, big outdoor umbrella, Await your pleasure. Welcome!

The rooms were very comfortable and the atmosphere was good. One thing I didn't like was the smell of smoke now and again in the common areas. It's China though and hotels and restaurants still allow smoking unfortunately. Also there is no wireless internet in rooms whcih is also common in China. Not too far from shopping, restaurants, parks and the french concession so it has a good location.

hotel very clean and comfortable inside a nice garden, subway line 10 is very nearby. only miss a swimming pool then will be the best solution for a wondefull living.
breakfast ok even for western people.
come come and enjoy even only for a weekend.
Shopping Tip:
From hotel exit, turn on the left and can enjoy window shopping, turn on the right and will find many suitable restaurants

Au coeur de la concession francaise

Grande chambre qui peut accueillir toute la famille (2 enfants) car les twin beds sont larges (130).
Prix tout a fait raisonnable, avec un bon deal agoda.
Nous n'avons pas tenté le petit déjeuner, element fresh est à 2 pas.
Le tennis est en état mais déjà complet à midi pour le lendemain matin.
Le beau jardin est caché derrière le deuxième bâtiiment, la vue de la chambre est nettement moins idylique, mais c'est calme.
Restaurant Tip:
Beaucoup de restaurants aux alentours: element fresh, café montmartre, crêperie....

les chambre sont très bien, confortable avec une décoration élégante, L'hotel est très bien placé dans le quartier agréable de concession française

C'est un vrai hôtel boutique. Les chambres sont superbes, le lit est confortable, l'hôtel fait attention de petites détailles. Tout est bien sauf le petit déjeuner ( pas bon, pas beaucoup de choix et très cher)
