The staff was not friendly enough as a 5 five stars hotel should be. The room was quite large and location was greatly. But there was no view at all from my window except a roof full of air conditioners, the gym was closed for decoration and the staffs working in cafe downstairs were absolutely very rude. They didn't even look at you when they served you and argued loudly with each other when you eating, same thing happened at both breakfast and lunch.

Excellent accommodations in the French Concession

We found the Gallery Suites to be an excellent choice when staying in the French concession in Shanghai. We stayed there a total of 9 nights over a month span. It is located about a 5 minute walk from the Hengshan Road Line 1 metro station making it very convenient to get just about anywhere in Shanghai. The staff was wonderful, pleasant and very efficient and on-site working 24 hours a day so that even arriving at 1AM there was someone there to greet us and check us in. The suites are spacious, well appointed and really comfortable. We found this hotel to be an excellent value – and were thrilled to have in-room Wi-fi. Although there is no restaurant at the hotel, there is a restaurant next door (Keven) that is convenient and has excellent choices for Westerners (the French Toast is magnificent). There is an on-site breakfast room and we found the buffet breakfast to be excellent with a variety of choices for Asian, American and European travelers. They even offered eggs and omelets cooked to order. It is on Hengshan Road, so if you are bothered by traffic noise, it is best to ask for a room overlooking the courtyard or Parking area in the back. The rooms, however, are extremely well insulated and we found that even on the street side, it was pretty quiet. The rooms had large closets and lots of drawers. We will definitely stay there again whenever we are in Shanghai.
