third stay in 4 weeks after quick trip to beijing from shanghai and after return from australia 24 march.
this is a nice hotel, great breakfast options, excellent executive lounge facilities - staff at all levels provide service with a smile
Restaurant Tip:
Check out the multitude of small restaurants in the block surronding the hotel - there are many taste suprises at reasonable prices.

The motel is of a very high standard for China; very safe and in its own precint. Don't be surprised to see expensive sports cars parked at the drop off. The staff speak good english and are eager to assist.The room was an executive suite and well appointed. Although pricey, the breakfast buffet would have been the best I've experienced in China, great selection of foods and staff to assist at a moments notice.
Wifi was fast and complimentary with the room.I would book this motel again for sure.

it was the second time staying at this hotel on the executive level. love the location as it is right next to metro and railway station. rooms are a generous size, clean and modern. wireless internet was very erratic, except in the lounge. the wired internet in the room while not being fast was adequate. the air conditioning was only able to heat, so spent most of the time with the window open. they could also do with paying more attention to keeping breakfast food hot in tiffany's restaurant.

the room is a bit small especially the bathroom is not user friendly. there is no place for you to hang up the clothes after putting the towel. w.c is too close to the shower door. we do not know where to put the mat on the floor. there is no extractor fan in the toilet. the tap is too long to put in the kettle. a lot of design errors which u feel that not user friendly such as complicated on and off lighting. the room is not really like a 5 stars hotel room as compare to gran melia that we had stayed before in pudong. the only thing that we feel convenient is the hotel right next to the mrtwith shops and restaurants surrounding. we stayed for 3 nights but the room service forgot to clean the room on the second night.

Got a good deal from the stay so the concierge was not willing to upgrade us. Nevertheless, it didn't disappoint.
The hotel had a grand entrance, Nice lobby and certainly felt like a five star hotel. Very helpful staff.
Rooms were large and very neat and clean. Two girls in one room - had enough room for both of our luggages without piling up on clutter and mess.I loved the toilet too.
I would recommend this place and would definitely come back~
My only complain would be that the smell of cigarettes and smoke was quite overwhelming in the lounge...but again, China isn't very strict with its "no smoking" policy.

Fantastic location, easy for travellers with the Shanghai Railway Station at the doorstep.

the layout was pleasing as we step into the hotel. the staff were knowledgeable as we checked in. overall the stay was excellent except for the weather which was not to our liking. i would definitely recommend my business friends of this excellent hotel location when they visit shanghai.
Shopping Tip:
Shopping at Nanjing Street is great. It reminds me of the Orchard Road in Singapore.

grand mercure zhongya upgraded my room after numerous of stay in the hotel. room atmosphere is good as usual. non significant negative points to observed. tv signal and picture quality can be better.
Restaurant Tip:
Take a cab to Jing An Temple for shopping or good restaurants. Other, opposite of Hotel, you may find handphone shopping mall. All original and fakes phones are there. Just be careful and get a good deal.
