Nice bar, good rooms, friendly staff

15 min walk to closest subway,

The hotel has an awesome sightseengbar on the 26th floor. Its very nice to go and sit there to have a drink in the evening. Because of the 2010 world expo they are bulding houses everywhere around the hotel, but this didnt really bother, in the room i could not hear any noice. The rooms are really nice and clean. Breakfast is ok as well. All in all a very nice hotel, i could consider on staying there again. The only bad thing is that you have to walk a little to get to it because there are no public transportation to this hotel. Or you can take a taxi for 1 euro from the Nanjing road.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Go to the rooftop bar! 26th floor

clean room , comfortable bed. breakfast is good. friendly and helpful stuffs

Hotel location is a bit far for The Bund and Nanjing-Lu.

Hotel location is a bit far for The Bund and Nanjing-Lu. approx 30 min walking distant. big construction is in front of the hotel,no noise in night time. But it make traffic around the hotel to be one way , even taxi driver confused. anyhow using taxi in and out of hotel is fast and not expendsive

Stay Away Until Expo construction is over Guest Rating: 6

-Good helpful staff -Near the Bund -Decent breakfast -Train ticket booth right outside

-Construction across the street (6am to 10pm); too much noise -My room was so dusty -Phone didn't work (had to call to get it replaced) -Safe is hard to use (old) -Shower leaked water (got bathroom floor all wet) -Expensive Internet access (50RMB/day)

Usually with Chinese hotels, the hardware (room, physical structure), is good and the service is lousy. Here it's the opposite. It's a self-proclaimed 4 star but my room felt more like a 2.5 star. It's a shame because it has potential.

Near "The Bund" and close to Nanjing Road where there are good boutiques.

Heavy construction around the area and heavy traffic all day long.

Rooms are spacious and clean with good amenities. Fantastic view of the Bund from the hotel's restaurant and bar on the top floor. Most of the staffs despite being very helpful are able to converse in English. The spa in the hotel is expensive compared with what one can get just around the corner. Overall this is very good value for ones money and is recommended for the business traveler.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Located around The Bund, this hotel will be good if one is going for the Shanghai World Fair 2110. There are lots of activity around the area and many of the tourist attractions are quite nearby. Present heavy constructions make getting to hotel difficult.

I didn't like the hotel, the bathroom was very dirty, the rooms are smaller and unconfortable with broken walls. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. The services and the location are very bad and didn't worth the money.

Breakfast, door man assisting with taxis, view from the 26th Floor, close to Starbucks and free wifi!

Construction around the Bund some taxis refused to take you there, floor wasn't vaccumed, asked for an extra bed and only got 2 king singles had to share with my son.

The Hotel is a little away from the main Bund area only a ten minute walk. However this is a plus as the area is very interesting and I loved seeing the typical streets in action-food shops, fruit stalls, washing out etc. It is a pleasant walk to the Bund area. The staff were very helpful and the doormen assisted with taxis etc. The rooms were comfortable, the floor could have been vacuumed more regularly. Breakfast is included and this is a bonus. It is a great opportunity to chat to other travelers. We have a young child and the hotel staff were good with him.

Location - right beside The Bund. Huge rooms - great space for families. Friendly, helpful staff. Value for money.

Construction all around - but only short term until 2010 expo - because of this, taxis had difficulty getting to the door of the hotel as many roads were blocked off.

Our family very much enjoyed our stay of three nights at this hotel and will be sure to use it as a regular when visiting Shanghai. From this hotel, it was quick and easy to access most tourist attractions and a stroll down The Bund at night was extremely pleasant. Even though the view from the top of this hotel was spectacular, especially at night, I would avoid eating at the restaurant at the top as the prices were expensive and did not match the quality of the food.

The staff were very helpful, the room was clean and not a bad view.A great location with a shortish walk to the markets, the bund and nanjing road.

The contents in the room fridge were over priced. The executive bar was overpriced and so was the resturant considering how many places there are to eat at in the area. There was no sugar provided in the room for us who drink tea with sugar.the coffee was ok as it had sugar in it.No milk was provided either but that was ok as i could enjoy my cuppa at b'fast

Even though our room was smaller that what it appeared to be on the internet it was enough room .The room was clean and the view was ok.The staff were friendly and helpful which was great as they could write in chinese so we were able to give it to our cab drivers as no cabbies could speak much english.A pleasent stay and good value for money

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Everything was reasonable close not too far to walk and not costly in a taxi.Markets close. My biggest tip take a taxi to the Maglev (fast train) to the airport much quicker and much cheaper.

very nice staff-speak english and very helpful, spacious and clean rooms, beautiful view of the city from the terrace bar.

contrary to the reviews of the hotel, this hotel is not walking distance from any sightseeing or shopping places. Its not too far away but not at walkable distance.

The Hengsheng Peninsula hotel is centrally located though not at walking distance from shopping and sightseeing places. Very helpful staff and clean rooms. Excellent spread of buffet breakfast. The terrace bar is great to relax after all the sightseeing and shopping. Beautiful view of the oriental pearl tv tower from the hotel, specially at night. I enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel to others.

Shopping Tip : Nanjing street is amazing for high end shopping and filled with various restaurants. Qi Pu Lu is the best place for high fashion shopping at affordable prices. It has 4 shopping malls located close to one another. lots of choice and value for money.

Location not bad...

Construction right across the road goes on around the clock... the rooms and the hotel are in desperate need of remodeling and the breakfast is terrible... never had worse pancakes in my life... in fact, I wouldn't call them pancakes... more like mini frisbees... To the staff: great skyline view from some of the rooms if only you'd clean the windows...

Judging a book by its cover is like judging a hotel by their pictures... although I always keep that in mind, I've never being so deceived as I was at the place... however, if you don't choose this hotel based on their pictures and all you're looking for is a low price while at a relatively good location, it would do the trick...

Location is good. From the 26th floor one can see the Shanghai towel across the river. Guess this view will not exist anymore when the neighouring building is completed!

The noise from the construction site next to the hotel was very annoying. Airconditioning unit was not functioning fully so much so that temperature in the room did not go anywhere lower then 25degree C!

Location is good.On discounted price, the excutive room on the 26th foor could be considered a bargain. However, noise from the neighouring construction sites can be unbearable.Upon completion, I believe the neighbouring building will block the existing view across the river.Air-conditioner did not function fully, can't understand why.

Decent hotel with good amenities and relatively clean. Decent location and friendly staff. Good breakfast.

Extensive construction outside the hotel. Not near the subway. Rooms not very big; beds are hard.

A four star rating for this hotel is at this point a bit high, but overall it offered all I needed and was clean and in a good location. Once construction in front of the hotel is finished (it looks like they need another 8 months, till April 2010), it will be nicer. There were many selections at the breakfast buffet. It was an easy 15 min. walk to Nanjing Rd. and taxi drivers did find it easily. The hotel offered a nice view from the roof top bar. But the bar itself was expensive.

Hotel Feature Tip : Enjoy the view at night from the roof top bar.

Good hotel; reasonable position; GREAT VIEW!! Guest Rating: 8.7

Comfortable rooms. Freindly and efficient staff. Incredible view.

Surroundings are under reconstruction - but so is most of Shanghai at the moment. It is quite a walk to the nearest subway station - but taxis are cheap.

The hotel is clean, comfortable and much better inside than it appears from outside, as there is building work and road work all around it. The buffet breakfast was good, with choices of Chinese and almost-Western. OK, the sausage is not as good as you would expect in Europe or the US, but this is China - and the dumplings are excellent. Paying 50RMB (per day or any part of it) was slightly irritating but considering the good room rate the overall value was very good. The hotel is quite close to the North end of the Bund and to the East Nanjing Road shopping area. It is a short interesting walk, via the old bridge across the Creek; I believe the bridge has just been returned from repair, which explains the negative reviews, which almost put us off staying there. We used the gym and pool. There was a need for some simple maintenance of equipment and lockers, but the facilities were generally OK. The view from the 26th floor roof bar is incredible. We did not eat there but the drinks we had were reasonably priced. Overall, I would be happy to recommend the hotel to anyone.

Travel tip : Walk to the Bund across the refurbished, historic "Grandma Bridge"; it beats sitting in a taxi!
