Reasonable Price for a Solid Room
Good location, clean, and comfortable
7.7
I would certainly be willing to stay here again. The staff was helpful in getting a cab for me to the airport, though a few of the staff didn't have the best proficiency in English. The views of the city are nice from rooms on higher floors. There is a Starbucks right across the corner, and you're quite close to the Bund.
Hotel Feature Tip:
if your room number ends in 15, you might have to look a little more to find your room around the corner...

Hotel was ok for the price, staff mostly ok, except for one grumpy desk clerk.
Had a few interesting experience,
First, maid bursts into room one night opening the TV cabinet and pointing to the spare dooners, and saying "here, here!".. I stood there puzzled then she realised she had the wrong room.
Second, Actually was locked out of my room a couple of times by a faulty door lock. The maintenance Engineers advice and fix was to shake the door violently until the card worked.
Be aware of the men peddling "young girls for you" outside the main entrance. Oh, and I was sadly disappointed that the roof top bar was closed. I chose the hotel for this and it was closed!
Other than that, all was ok.

well, stayed there for 4 nights during my visit to shanghai.
It is a mid-range hotel. Rooms conditions were accepted. However, do note that its sky balcony restaurant on the 27th floor was closed due to renovation. The same goes for the swimming pool located at level 3.
Did not check out the hotel buffet breakfast as I find it too expensive for the food it offers.
Overall, I am pleased with the stay there though an overhaul of the hotel's carpet is certainly welcome.

Close to the Bund
Close to major tourist attractions and shopping street
8
The room was quite big and offered all you need. The rating (4-star) is according to Chinese standards, so equals only international 3-star standard. The location of the hotel is very close to the Bund and so it's convenient to reach some of the major attractions and the Shanghai Central Railway Station.
The carpet in the room needs replacement. The swimming pool and the sports facilities were closed without reason and will not open again. Any food or breakfast I didn't try.
In total I can recommend this hotel for a short stay.

Nice hotel with convenient location
Quite clean, quiet neighbourhood but convenient to get food and not far from the Shanghai Bund ( RMB 13 taxi fare )
7.3
Stayed for 3 days, front desk personnels are very helpful with smiling face. Arrived quite early from an overnight flight around 10 am and they let me have an early check-in, which is very good. After which, I just walk down one or two blocks and basically I can get whatever I want. Hotel surrounding is quite clean and quiet which is essential for me.

Hengsheng Peninsula Int'L Hotel

This property is located in a not so central location. At night time the area turns in to a ghost town. The rooms were in sub par condition. Very run down. You can find better properties in shanghai for the money
