Newly decorated in 2005, the hotel is located near Shanghai’s historic area, and provides 390 apartments that include every conceivable appliance. The Hong Kong Plaza Service Apartment is 15km from the Hongqiao International Airport and 45km from the Pudong International Airport. The four-star hotel is also 3.5 kilometers from the Shanghai Railway Station. Located on the Huahai Road Central, guests are a short walking distance from the old French Quarter, Huangpu Road South Metro Station and the Peoples Park. Wireless internet. Great and central location. Has all the basic amenities, including 2 bottle water. Clean. Near a Watson's convenience store.

Internet is not free. Lighting in the bathroom is a bit too dim. The TV is quite small. Couldn't find a supermarket nearby

Shopping Tip : There's a Watson's nearby.

Location, Furniture, High Standard

A bit more expensive than other similar apartments. The heating system sometime failed to warm up the apartment.

Apartments are very well located, I stayed in a Deluxe 2 Bedrooms Suite and I am very satisfied. Money are well spent. The reception is located at 8th floor. They are re-working the lower floors (the outside) so the main entrance was closed, but this didn't really represent an issue. Because of the work in progress often taxis couldn't easily access and left me few meters away from entrance, but taxi drivers in Shanghai are often lazy. The standard of the room is very high. As minus I can highlight: - no cutlery at all in the kitchen - There are other similar apartments in Shanghai and sometime they can be cheaper than this one.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Visit the highest building in Shagnhai, it is amazing.

The location is strategic in that there are a few shopping malls and fast food outlets (for those not really into Chinese food) within walking distance. The MRT is just across the road at the Hong Plaza Plaza. The apartment is clean and well furnished (including a DVD player); it's just like your own home.

The hotel staff should greet the guests with a smile and good morning, etc to make the atmosphere friendlier.

The 2 bedroom suite is big enough to accomodate 6 pax eventhough it has only 2 rooms (1 room with King size bed and 1 with single bed). I went with my family of 6 and had hope to stay together if possible. However, was informed that max is 4 pax for 2 bedroom suite even if I was willing to pay for extra beds. The hotel should be more flexible to cater to family get togethers. Also, certain guests were smoking in the lobby area and the hotel staff (concierge) did nothing to stop them until we were there. Nonetheless, overall, it was a very comfortable hotel and we enjoyed our stay from 23-27 December, 2008.

Restaurant Tip : Next to this hotel, there is a Guangdong restaurant (can't remember the name) and the food is good and reasonable. Didn't manage to try the dim sum though as the restaurant opens at 11am and by that time, we were out sightseeing.
