This is one of China's rare hotels, in which the service staff treats you well, give you what you need, and without a bugging "over service".
There are a few buildings in the area, and this is my 3rd time here.
At first, I have been accommodated in no. 7, which gives you a feeling you fell into a higher class that you need. It's really awesome. but it's more expensive, of course.
This time I'm in Bldng No. 6, which is the common building. As much as common as it is, the rooms are well equipped with everything needed, and are clean and inviting.
Every room has a dual windows, and a small balcony, a real gem for someone like me, who likes fresh air.
It's not the cheapest in the area, indeed, but compared to the other more expensive hotels, it is much better!

Good Hotel, but the beds are a bit hard. The service is really good and they will solve the problem very easy.
Breakfast and diner are not very spectacular but ok.
Nice environment around the hotel, closed off from street. Excellent facilities in and around the hotel.

Hongqiao State Guest Hotel is a sprawling development. My building had the most elaborate lobby. Walking from one building to the next is a breeze with the greenery around. The room amenities are adequate and the deluxe room is spacious and clean.

My favorite hotel in hongqiao area. Very calm with big green spaces.
The room have all features, well equipped, and with free Internet.
The hotel is composed of few blocks and have various types of restaurants.
The staff is very helpful and speaks English quite well.
As I said, my recommendation for this area.

Beautiful retreat setting in the midst of Shanghai

This was my first visit to Shanghai, and staying at the Hongqiao SGH made it an even better experience. I was surprised to find such a quiet peaceful place in the middle of the fast paced chaos of Shanghai. Walking around the gardens and tree-lined paths was a nice retreat after lots of business meetings and crazy taxi rides. The staff spoke sufficient English and was attentive to my needs. Very impressed!
Hotel Feature Tip:
If you want to soften up the mattress, the hotel has a topper that makes it a little more comfortable.

It's good place for rest. Employees are friendly. Especially the garden of hotel is nice. Subway station and shopping mall is in 5 minute distance. but it's not placed at center of city.

A hotel with beautiful garden but small room

the hotel has beautiful garden and it is green. creating a feel good environment. it is probably an ideal place for social function or people who spend more time in the hotel than out.
we are kind of disappointed with small and old room. the toilet is also very small. we really do not find it worth the amount of money we paid.
despite our request for a big bed room, we were given a double bed room. however, service at the reception counter, especially was professional & good.

Quite and comfortable environment. Good services from Bell Boy to receiption.
Good location and shopping mall is just 5 min walk from hotel.
Offer good security.
Would definitely consider staying there again
