Pleasant hotel

The Hotel Nikko is well located in the centre of Shanghai. We had booked through Agoda and requested a non smoking couples room, however, on arrival the hotel informed us that they only had double bed smoking rooms or twin bed non smoking rooms. This was a disappointment and it tinted our stay in Shanghai. As it was a romantic weekend away, we opted for the smoking double room and found the room with lingering smells of cigarette. Other than this, the room was equipped with surprises, ie. a television in front of the bathtub and a multi-purpose toilet. Overall we were satisfied with our stay although wish we had opted for a different hotel in a nicer room for a similar price.
Nightlife Tip:
We ended up going out to a Mint Club which is highly recommended but you will need to dress smart or know connections with a membership. Huaihai area is very cute and quaint with plenty of little shops and restaurants. There are also clubs around this area, definitely worth checking out.

Hotel Nikko is located on the main Ya'an West Road (延安西路), and it is just a 10minutes walk away from the western end of the famous Nanjing West Road (南京西路), so in terms of location, I would say that it is quite good, although Ya'an Road is usually rather jammed up.
The rooms are newly furnished with excellent design, and the bed is very comfortable. I am particularly pleased with the japanese style toilet bowls that comes with a heated seat.
The only downside is that the hotel doesn't come with wifi, which means you have to be confined to the working desk to get connection, but the hotel assured me that they are rolling out Wifi in the near future!

"just not too bad" The service of the hotel wasn't that great due to the fact that i was allow to chaeck in after 3pm. so i had to wait for an additional 1 hour doing nothing. the room was very clean. the furniture was pretty new.

it was my first stay in this hotel, definitely worth its money. starting with the check in which was a bit slow, the rooms on the other side were fantastic, my room was facing inside the japanese garden - good view and very quiet! very comfortable bed, nice, high tech bathroom with shower and bathtub, with waterproof tv and remote control.
very modern fitness center with good choice of high-end equipment! best in a long time!
Nightlife Tip:
On the other side of the elevated road are lots of restaurants and bars!

the staff is rapidly reorganising to allow very fast check-in and out times when there are multiple guests during rush hours. the hotel is very well appointed and its style is in nice contrast to other more localized offers. the rooms offer the typical japanese standard in design and equipment, and generously designed with large entrance areas and bathrooms big enough to actually move.
comfortable beds and a large hd tv help relax. overall, very pleasant.
Restaurant Tip:
Le Bouchon, French traditional restaurant near Jing'an Temple stn. Great authentic French cuisine in a special atmosphere.

Contemporary hotel - Great deal for Shanghai

Very nice hotel with a little Japanese penchant. It is conveniently located next to the city center and Yan'An Lu is the key road to go anywhere in the city.
The furniture is what you would expect in a minimal interior design and very pleasant. Colors are neutral and relaxing.
Overall cleanliness is good. I love it when I do my pushups and the carpet looks clean from so close! Rooms are the right size and offer an office corner.
I found my bed to be a tad too soft on the side of the phone (the one everybody uses). I have back problems and have become supersensitive. You may not even notice.
Entertainment freaks will love the tv set behind the tub mirror. Gym is superb.
The personnel is friendly and will gladly help you with the unruly Shanghai taxi drivers.
Breakfast is multi-region and you'll definitely find what suits you.
Travel tip:
You cannot miss the Bund at night. It is one of the loveliest views you can find in the world.
They turn out the lights at 10:30 PM. Don't be late!

My child and I spent one night at Hotel Nikko Shanghai and had a very comfortable experience there. A team of caring and friendly staff is ready to assist us whenever we need help. The room is spacious, clean and modern; it's equipped with state of the art facilities, guest can watch TV while having bath. Electronic curtain, docks for i-devices, USB I/O plugs and chargers are all ready for use. A desk with internet access and power sockets is good for business traveler. Safe, iron and iron board are all available in the room.
A great location with easy access to the subway station by 6-8 mins of easy walk.
It's a very enjoyable stay for us; and both my child and I would definitely come back to this hotel if we are travelling to Shanghai again.
