Good suite room but lousy dark hotel lobby

The room is very comfortable and the hotel staff is very helpful and friendly at check-in. However I find the hotel lobby too dark, especially at night. I think they are trying to save electricity by switching the power off! The room is too dark too, it seems like they have only a few yellow lights. Imagine the toilet has brighter lights than the room! The bed is very comfortable, living up to 5 star standards. The location is also not bad, there are plenty of massage places around the hotel and late night food.

Ok hotel if yo need to stay in Pudong
Located right next to the must fun Phillipino bar in China. Alwais great band and nice people. Been there many times, never failes.

Go To the bar street right next to the hotel, out the hotel door, turn right and go through a gate. Then you are there. Richy's have good western food, but a bit noicy. Go to Paulaner bar, the best philipino bar in Shanghai. guaranteed a good time, just by the artist's a drink or two and they will take good care of you.

Cheap hotel
Value hotel, nar pudong & bars

This is a Chinese value hotel. it is quite near pudong business district. the rooms are a good size and even quite well equipped with new looking beds, tvs, bathrooms, etc. it is an older building, but it has a certain batman, retro style to it. if you want a bit more room than more expensive hotels, or you want to save some cash, or you just want something a little different than this might be for you. There are a few bars just behind - most want your dollar but would be willing to give you a beer for it. And there is a cheap restaurant on the ground floor next door for a cofee.
Shopping Tip:
You do need to get a cab to a few different places to start to appreciate Shanghai. E.g. a walk on the Bund in summer is nice, but we found very little to do there. In winter, you want to dive into a bar or restaurant and we just didnt see any. None. There are few on the north side, but that's not the walking area. Go to XiTiandi for an easy start to mainly western stye bars and restaurants at night. For a better experience, go to TaiKang Road and find the Lanes - here there is a far more interesting ecclectic selection of smaller oddball shops, bars and restaurants.
Super Brand Mall is nothing to write home about - cos it is the same as those at home. There are a number of options for the out of town visitor. The larger malls will have little to surprise or interest a visitor, and prices are comparable with other global cities, so no bargains to be had. it is worth a look at some of the more local shoppng centres. Try to get a look at the hawkers market undergroud at the Science and Technology Museum metro stop. There you can find watches, sunglasses, elecronics, software, games, toys, scarves, handbags, etc. Do remember to haggle - you might pay just 20 - 30% or some of the asking prices. Dont go as far as to offend, but that'd be difficult as they are quite used to rebuttle.
