Location was a godsend in the summer heat. Hotel is merely a few steps away from the metro. Dining options abound because of proximity to Huai Hai Road. I even walked to Xin Tian Di for dinner.
As mentioned earlier, there's a giant screen right across the street that thinks it is an alarm clock. It starts screaming everyday precisely at 7 a.m. with the morning news! Great if you're supposed to be up by 7, but a bummer otherwise.

Staff's attitude can be improved. I asked the front desk for sightseeing info after check it, and she asked me to call the "tourist hotline" from the room. When I called the hotline,

location was fantastic, right next to a metro station and within walking distance to major shopping strips!

the hotel is very new with nice furnishings and the beds were comfy and not too hard unlike most hotel beds in china!
the tv also doubles as a computer, so that was a bonus!
the location is ideal as it's right next to a metro station and the train system is quite easy to manage and really cheap!
Hotel Feature Tip:
there's a washing and drying machine on the 6th floor that's a much cheaper option than getting your laundry done with hotel staff! just go to reception to get the coins!

Perfect for a 3 day stay. They gave me complimentary a ticket to the expo, including entrance to the Chinese pavillion with a waiting time of only 1 hour, a miracle!
Nice breakfast, central location although be ready to walk
Nightlife Tip:
Beware of some people at the Bund who pretend to make friends with you to take to expensive tea houses. There are also very nice Chinese turists and families who only want to take a picture with you and exchange a few words in English

A pleasant hotel to stay in Shanghai
Good location, newly renovated room

The overall appearance is quite clean and comfortable. Staff are helpful. Room is nice as shown in the pictures. No cigarette odor at all in the room which is quite differ from other hotel in China I've ever stayed. The location is just a minute walk to the subway.
Restaurant Tip:
The road behind the hotel is a food street - there are so many restaurants to choose and mini marts are around.

Great location, nice room

I went to Marvel Hotel with my friend for our trip to Shanghai. Overall experience is good. We were impressed by its super convenient location, right in the middle of the city and only a few steps to subway.
The lobby however was a bit rundown, but we figured because it was an old-recently-renovated building. Room is spacious, newly furnished.
We got quite a good deal for the hotel, will be back again when we go back to Shanghai.

I stay at Marvel Shanghai for World Expo 2010. The hotel location was great, it just 50 meters away from Metro Station. Walking distance to Huai Hai Rd (Shopping street). Room was clean, it has separate bath and shower, in room safe. I will saty here again for the next visit
