Shanghai New Asia Hotel was constructed in 1943. It is a 9 story mansion and was the first hotel in Shanghai which was funded, designed, built and managed by a Chinese group. The hotel was renovated in 2003, retaining its original look, but improving its facilities and changing its interior decoration. There are three main restaurants in the hotel that serve a mix of cuisine. The White Clouds Hall provides Cantonese food, the Sea Clouds Hall serves Shanghai styles, and the French Restaurant serves Western food. The hotel has a post office, a ticket reservation office, billiards room, sauna, dancing hall, karaoke and gymnasium. The business center is equipped with fax, printer, photocopying and access to various meeting rooms. The hotel is within easy walking distance of Shanghai's prime shopping area on Nanjing Road. the hotel is located on the bund.so the location is very good .the staff speak english and there us exchange and torist information at the hotel

at the time of our stay the hotel and all the era arounf was in renovation because of the expo that will be in shanghai in 2010 .

A location of hotel is quite convenient for many places for whom like to walk. A nearest metro will take you about 15 min walk. A room is quite small even though I stayed alone in twin bed room. They provides only one set of bath towel.(normally, this kind of twin bed should 2?) You have to pay for internet access. (the rate 1min/0.4 Y and no more than 65 Y/day). They have a drinkable faucet at washbasin that sincerely, I don't dare to drink from it. Anyhow, if you just want a cheap place to stay this hotel is be worthwhile.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : walking around you will find many good places such as restaurants area at night around 3 block back of hotels.
