location

room comfort

A location of hotel is quite convenient for many places for whom like to walk. A nearest metro will take you about 15 min walk. A room is quite small even though I stayed alone in twin bed room. They provides only one set of bath towel.(normally, this kind of twin bed should 2?) You have to pay for internet access. (the rate 1min/0.4 Y and no more than 65 Y/day). They have a drinkable faucet at washbasin that sincerely, I don't dare to drink from it. Anyhow, if you just want a cheap place to stay this hotel is be worthwhile.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : walking around you will find many good places such as restaurants area at night around 3 block back of hotels.

The hotel has a great location. It's just five to ten minutes to the bund and East Nanjing Road and five minutes to Zhapu Road. The room I had was very nice and excellent value for the money. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I didn't eat in the restaurant, but it looked nice. I liked stying there.

Rooms clean and spacious

Took me longtime to check in because a long que and only two person on reception very unefficient, doing work very slowly, no enough space in lobby for waiting. Loction is not good, all around hotel construction work going on.

Room and bath room size good in this price but location not good. Not easy way to go to Nanjing Road.Breakfast in additional price but no variety available. Overall not worth palce to stay for business people.

good rooms and good location

services are expensive and the front desk and lobby personnel aren't that friendly

My room was clean with plenty of light. The hotel is conveniently located near the bund about ten minutes walking distance. The downside is that room service are relatively expensive compared to other hotels I stayed at in China. The front desk and lobby personnel spoke English well but were not the friendly staff I've dealt with. However, the hotel is a good deal and I would recommend it to anyone.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : the old town is a fascinating walk. The locals are friendly and don't mind photographers. There are too many hawks pushing you to buy in the Nanjing area. I avoid this area unless you plan to shop for upscale clothing. There's alot of construction going on esecially on The Bund. The international airport is 35km from the center and costs 160 yuan by taxi. The New Asia has no shuttle service.

Good location

Bad restaurant, no ac, generally old

The staff is helpful, they speak good english and will always help you get a cab to where you need to go. The restaurant is very Chinese, greasy food, weird in general. No AC basically, so better hope it's not too hot. Everything is pretty old, but that's not a huge problem.

Restaurant Tip : The Factory. Good food, good environment, small portions though.

Location and price

Environment

If you are looking for a hotel with a reasonable price in Shanghai, this is the place. Because Shanghai is expanding and "face lifting" now, there are so many constructions processing simultaneously including the surrounding areas of this hotel. You could find some information for 1-day or 2-days city tour from front desk, the price is acceptable. Currency change, PLEASE DO NOT EXCHANGE AT THE AIRPORT, THE RATE AND FEES ARE JUST HORRIBLE. Try your own hotel and they will make you happy. Taxi is cheap. If you want to visit some famous spots in Shanghai, using taxi is a very good way. You may pay less than 20 rmb per trip to another location. And believe me, the drivers are very "skilled". You must hang on tight as they have never been worried about pedestrians. Please remember to arrange your routes beforehand. Random routes will cost you more of course. Finally, try foot massage, it is fun and not costly....98rmb/45 mins. Good luck.

Proximity to Nanjing Road, Attentive staff, clean rooms, good price.

I was not there long enough to find fault in anything.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise because enen though it is close to Nanjing road it does not have the same feeling as other hotels on that street. Close nearby, you can find most wonderful bargains in many dirrerent shops located in one building, so there is no need to follow some one into a dangerous back alley. Dollar for value, i can truley say that this is a bargain hotel that at first appearance may not seem as good as it really is. It is definitly on my my list of bargain hotels in Shanghai where i have visited many times for business and pleasure.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : From this location, nearly every thing is in walking distance or can be reached by the nearby subway system.

The room itself was clean and quite OK

The hotel management is not up to speed regarding service expectations

(+) OK location (-) We had to buy rice for our meal from a restaurant down the road since room service (confirmed by hotel management) said rice was not included on the menu!!! (-) Hustlers hang out at the entrance after dark, and hound you when coming and going.
