the hotel has the best location ever. few walk to the pearl tower, great malls, greats restos, jinmao tower, 1 minute ride to bund sight seeing tunnel which means in few minutes youare the bund and could continue some walk at the nanjing road. i simply love the location. buffet bf and mini bar is so expensive, when i got the same milk at the convenient store at 1 usd only!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
enjoy shanghai by walking, everything is walkable! never have to spend for cab drivers you cant even converse to you. its very safe beacause a lot of people are doing than, just roaming around.

The room was clean and new. The linens were high quality and the bathroom was large. On the flip side, the room service was not very good and while the food was good, the serving portions were very small for the price of the meal. Most of the staff speak very little English. The real advantage of this hotel is its convenient location to the some of the main attractions on the Pudong side of the river. Overall, I would recommend The Hilton or another 4-5 Star Hotel over this one unless you absolutely have to see the Pearl Tower or something.

all good, great gym, you can exercise to a fabulous view over the bund. the breakfast buffet is expensive if it is not included in the room price, even my children who are under 2 had to pay half price, which means you pay over ten pounds gbp for half a bread roll - it would be over 70 pounds gbp for the family to have the buffet - but good shops are nearby, spend the money on delicious things in the shops and eat in your room with a view.

we had a good stay in this hotel. the suite we had was luxurious, the views over to the bund were lovely and the huge spa bath with a tv was brilliant. with the sliding door in the second room it meant the kids could sleep in there. the check in staff were not so great - with limited english and not exactly a welcoming smile on arrival. however the breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff were very helpful in the restaurant. the pool and gym facilities were great.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The boat cruise you can catch 5 mins walk from the hotel is well worth doing for 80 RMB for an hours trip up the river. Great views of Pudong and the Bund and the kids loved it.

Great location, newly renovated rooms

We booked with a 24hour notice and were happy to stay there. The hotel is directly located beside the Oriental Pearl Tower and opposite of the Superbrand Mall, a big shopping center in Pudong. The rooms are newly renovated and the recreational facilities are closed due to construction, therefore I guess the price was quite low for this good hotel. The location is the most favorite of this hotel: directly on the Huangpu river and close to the main attractions of the Pudong side of Shanghai.

it is a very nice hotel on the side of huangpu river. you can see beatiful bund from hotel. especially in the night, the lights are wonderful. i like to go to sport center and relax but watching over the window to see the nigth scene of the huangpu river.
the hotel is close to mingzhu towel, which is another attractice in that area. there are many resturants around there so it is convenient to dine with friends there,

Great river views
Well located fo the river, for the Brands shoping mall and Pudong business

The hotel is very clean, smart and you get treated well. The rooms are plenty big enough. The maid service is good and they appear several times a day and then again for a turn-down service in the evening. Their Englishis OK. There is a business centre. If you face the river there are good views. It is a 3 min walk a block over to the Super Brands Mall, which is not very exciting - it could be any large town shopping mall in the UK. There are several places to eat & drink - there is a Starbucks on the outside of the amall (not accessible from nsde!). There is a decent sushi place and a thai place. And there is a western style Blue Frog retaurant / bar on the ground floor, again on the outside of the buildng.
Shopping Tip:
There are a number of options for the out of town visitor. The larger malls will have little ot surprise or interest a visitor, and prices are comparable with other global cities, so no bargains to be had. it is worth a look at some of the more local shoppng centres. Try to ge a look at the hawkers market undergroud at the Science and Technology Museum metro stop. There you can find watches, sunglasses, elecronics, software, games, toys, scarves, handbags, etc. Do remeber haggle - you might pay just 20% or some of the asking prices. Dont go as far as to offend, but that'd be difficult as they are quite used to rebuttle.

great location near the "Pearl"

I have been in the Oriental Riverside hotel before and every time I enjoy my stay there.
The hotel is located besides the river and just a few meters away from the Shanghai Pearl .
Due to our early arrival our rooms were not ready yet , but after waiting for 30 minutes we received a free upgrade to a suite, with a view to the river and the pearl.
It is a pity that the breakfast is not included in the price , 200 RMB for a small breakfast ( II do not eat that much in the morning ) is too high to my opinion.
