Great River VIew
Heart of the financial district, great view of the river, excellent staff
7.7
The hotel is a fine hotel but not a five star hotel. The staff is well trained and attentive. My room was roomy enough but the carpeting was old and the room lacked real character. The view to the river and the surrounding area is great but being in the heart of the financial district means a cab ride to most night venues. I enjoyed the hotel and the price I paid was excellent but I would probably try another hotel when I return.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The hotel is almost next door to the shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower, which is definitely worth taking the time to visit.

the hotel was in construction so there was a lot of noise and paint fumes going around. However, they stop work around bedtime so it shouldn't be a bother. Water in the shop was around $10usd which is exorbitant price gouging. the hotel is nice, the food was good, the rooms are a bit on the small side but clean. The hotel is located by the river so you can see some nice views if you are on the correct side of the hotel

Shanghai Oriental Riverside Pudong
Very nice hotel, some newly refurbished. Good location for business in the Pudong area. Across the road from a decent shopping mall.
9.3
Very nice hotel, some newly refurbished. Good location for business in the Pudong area. Across the road from a decent shopping mall.
If you only want to go visit the centre of town, eg People Square, or all your business is the other side, then you are the wrong side of the river and it takes a while in traffic to get across everyday because of the roads and the tunnel (always jammed). You can either geta taxi to the other side (maybe RMB20) or there is an underground tourist train (around RMB40).
Restaurant Tip:
Across the road on the outside of the shoppping mall is a decent cafe/bar/restaurant called the Blue Frog. Good value western-style food.

nice scenery
the room is exceptionally gorgeous! 10 mins walk to the metro station line 2, lujiazui stop and it is only 2 stops away from nanjing road. very convenient place to be in.
7.7
The room is really nice and big! Bed was very comfortable and the view is magnificent as my windows are facing directly at Oriental Pearl Tower. Shopping centres are all over the area and a walk down to the Bund is a must! Overall it is a very nice hotel except for the staff. I requested for a late check out and was turned down by the counter staff, saying that they do not practise late check out even if the hotel is not fully booked.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
go to shanghai indoor stadium to book your one day tours there. buses leave at 8.30 - 9.30am daily which will bring you to different sight seeing locations both in the town city or in the rural scenic villages.

Oriental Riverside - Jan 2010 - (44, 29)
Great Location, Soft Beds, Nice Views, Good Service
9.7
The location of this hotel was amazing for sight seeing. The hotel forms part of the most famous skyline in Shanghai.
The rooms in this hotel where without fault, lovely soft beds, huge bathtubs, hot water, nice finishing touches.
Hotel was clean and all staff where helpfull, Metro was just opposite the entrance to the TV tower maybe 3 mins away, local street food market just around the corner.
There is not a lot of Resturants in this area of Shanghai pick up a timeout from reception for reviews of good resturants and different cuisines.
Shopping Tip:
Ask to the concierge to write down the address to go to the best fake market for fantastic handbags, dvds, clothing and jewellry. Taxi costs around 26Y which is around £2.40

Excellent value
Spaciousness and quality of room
8.7
I travel to Shanghai a few times each year and have previously stayed in other hotels outside the Pudong area. I do not speak Chinese so I often had difficulty finding the hotels as many taxi drivers were unfamiliar with some of them. The fact that this hotel was very close to the pearl tower made it very easy to locate. It was also very easy for me to get a taxi from the hotel even during peak periods.
The quality of the room was excellent, just as you would expect from a five star hotel. It had all the amenities anyone could desire and on the fifth floor where I stayed it was exceptionally quiet and peaceful so I had no trouble getting a good night's sleep. The buffet breakfas was included and this was more than adequate. I would certainly stay there again on my next visit to Shanghai.

Oriental Riverside Hotel Shanghai
the best location at Shanghai, nice view from hotel windows, nice breakfast, good service
9.7
I travel to Shanghai nearly every month. I stay at Oriental Rivrside Hotel Shanghai every time when travel there. I like the location, like the nice view from hotel windows. But the breakfast is too expensive. I would suggest to include the breakfast to the room rate at a reasonable cost. It is too expensive to have breakfast inside the hotel, and too inconvenient to have breakfast outside the hotel.

Pudong Riverside Hotel
Beautiful Hotel, magnificent surroundings, convenient location.
8
Hotel room is beautiful and roomy and very very clean. Hotel is located on the other side of the Bund, across the river.
Hotel is also from walking distance from Lujiazui metro station. Also 5 minute walk from Super Brand Mall which has quite a number of shops and plenty of restaurants/eats within the food courts.
The cons- Their function/ball room upstairs from our level made an incredible amount of noise (very loud karaoke, music, GONGS, sounds of heavy furniture being moved/dropped) especially after midnight. That may have something to do with the New Year Celebrations going on at the time but they should generally be more considerate to guests regarding this issue.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Hotel is right next to the Oriental Pearl sight seeing deck.
Also, as the hotel is right next to the river, you can easily stand by the river to watch New Years Eve fireworks- which were spectacular, to say the least.

Oriental riverside hotel
Good location, great amenity
9.3
The hotel is very good located, just walk outside the main lobby entrance you will see the sightseeing tunnel train station. very convenience to cross over to the Bund, Although it a bit expensive. one way cost rmb 400, return is rmb500. There's a big shopping mall called Super brand mall which is just about 10 mins walk. You can find many restaurant,Pub, cafe and all sort of shop range from fashion wear to nail spa here. The space of the room is consider spacious for the price they charge and the best deal is that although they give me a garden view, my room view is so nice. Can see the pearl tower directly and World financial centre and the Jin Mao building.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Bing Jiang Ave is just 5 mins walk away from the hotel, it offer fantastic view of the Bund and there are many nice restaurant along the Ave.
