The shear scale of the resort, wide variety of shops and restaurants, beautiful suites, enormous casino hall
the package Agoda sold us was out of date, check out procedure
Our first impressions of the Venetian were - WOW! It is absolutely enormous, and it would be crazy to leave your room with out a map of the complex. All of the rooms are suites, and they are very well appointed and large. The bathrooms are beautiful, the decor very tasteful and the bed comfortable. It felt incredibly luxurious. Unfortunately there were not any shows the night that we stayed, but we did enjoy a great American soul band at one of the cocktail bars at the Venetian. The resort is very well laid out with the casino right in the center - so that temptation is always there, I suppose! We didn't gamble but it was very interesting to watch others taking part. The staff were very helpful, particularly in dealing with a situation relating to the package that we booked from Agoda, which actually turned out to be out of date. They dealt with the situation reasonably well, although I would have expected them to be a little quicker given the fact that we were staying in Macau for such a short period of time. One thing that seemed very strange was that in order to get an express check out, the hotel ask guests to fill out a form giving their credit card details. We thought that this was a crazy system and were not prepared to give the details to them in this form. The hotel should change this system, as people are not happy to do this sort of thing when credit card fraud is rife.
All in all we had a fantastic short trip to the Venetian. The hotel is beautifully designed, there is a lot to do including shopping at the wide range of shops at the resort, as well as eat at some very high end restaurants.
Shopping Tip : Check out the "Shoppes at the Four Seasons" - they have a wide range of designer brands.

Very good view of huangpu river, extremely close to the oriental pearl tower, quite close to shopping malls and subway
would have been better if they built a tunnel to link the hotel to the subway
Overall a very nice place. Try booking in the off peak season for better rates. When there is major convention going on the price of this hotel will become ridiculous. Overall an extremely good experience.
Restaurant Tip : The shopping center near the hotel has lots of high class restaurants. (but easily affordable for europeans and americans). If you wanna get special snacks try to stay near people's square. There is a yellow river road there full of cheap restaurants.

Location proximity to landmark (Bund, Pearl of the Orient TV Tower). Classy hotel, good service.
Expensive breakfast buffet.
The Oriental Riverside Hotel in Pudong would cater well to business clientelle. The services offered are all good quality. The hotel is kept clean and tidy, in a very professional manner.
The costs of living (ie: food/beverages, internet access) is what one should expect in a world class business hotel. The staff is well versed in the english language and there were no issues with communication (hotel reception, operator, concierge, bell boy, pool reception).
This hotel is within walking distance to many of Shanghai's landmark attractions, namely the Bund, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, JinMao and Shanghai World Financial skyscrapers, making this hotel location and all of the services close by expensive. You may wish to go to a different neighbourhood to find some food staples (bar fridge in hotel room) and save on food/drink costs.
Overall, very pleased with staff, premises, and location.
Shopping Tip : Nanging street is an obvious must. Easily accessed one stop on subway line 2.

The location was convenient
The front office staff were quite rude.
The location was very convenient for me as I was attending a conference at the convention centre. However there was some construction work going on the room that was immediately above mine. After complaining about that to the reception I was offered a room change. When I was making the reservation I was under the impression that breakfast was also included in the room rate. But after checking in I learnt that it was not so. The breakfast at the hotel’s restaurant costs 182RMB per person. The rooms in the new wing are much better than the old wing.
Hotel Feature Tip : When making the reservation request for a room in the new wing and check if the rate includes breakfast.

Location. Close to Super Brand Mall, the river's edge, lots of restaurants and shopping. The beds were comfortable, clean sheets, clean bathroom.
Non-Smoking Room, smelled like foot and cigarettes. The smell dissapated after leaving the air conditioning on for several hours. The carpet was soiled.
The star rating system in China really means nothing. This is a slightly above average Chinese hotel, with an excellent location. Close to the Metro, Close to Super Brand Mall, easy walking distance to observe the rivers' edge at night. Besides the annoying smell of foot and cigarettes in the room, and the dirty carpet. . . the linens were clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom clean. We left the A/C on for several hours when we went out, and upon our return, found the smell to be practically gone. What a pleasant surprise. The location is the best thing about this hotel.
We also discovered an incredible restaurant, called ELEMENT FRESH, in the Super Brand Mall just 2 blocks away. For fresh, healthy food, at reasonable prices, and a beautiful minimalist decor, this was our fantastic find. And happy news for those living in China - Element Fresh is a chain!! Good things are hard to find here, so enjoy it while you can.
Restaurant Tip : ELEMENT FRESH, restaurant chain for healthy, fresh, non-expensive, food.

Hotelroom, bathroom, restaurant, service, nice room view, hotel location, close to sightseeings, Riverview
The hotel was really the best hotel ever. It is situated in the center of all sightseeings and bars, theater, shopping mall etc. The staff of the hotel are really nice and have the willing to help you with everything. The room was very luxury and comfortable with a nice bathroom. The room has a nice view at the oriental tower and the river. The restaurants in the hotel have a delicious menu and nice view on the river. It has been a marvelous stay at the hotel.

good location
big and spacious rooms
well appointed
poor english
hotel dark
very chinese
i enjoyed the experience,in the main becase it was so chinese and used by people from the orient.the rooms were large and spacious.the staff were very willing and wanted to help.the drawback was the lack of english and the concierge was unable to help us with the most basic of things.this was at the week end. once monday arrived it all changed as they employ a young woman who was russian, with good english to help westeners such as us
plus point is that it is central and by the river with great views.

A bit old furniture, staff not helpful, water smelly, expensive breakfast
The hotel is strategically located and near to main attractions such as pearl tower, the bund, etc. The staffs are less friendly and not very helpful. The room is quite big and spacious. It's not very clean though. The water is a bit smelly. All furnitures are a bit old. Breakfast is very expensive, but with the reasonable room price, we are okay staying in this hotel. I rate 7/10 for this hotel.

Very expensive food and breakfast
The hotel was not known by many taxidrivers.
Locations was excellent.
Staff was not very good in English but polite.
Breakfast was extremely expensive compared with what you were offered.
When we buy the buffet one evening we were only offered water and coffee and have to pay 60 RMB for a cup of tea.
