Excellent location, high level hotel, very clean and comfortable.

Internet service too expensive at the Business Center ($3 Yuan a minute)if you do not have a laptop.

The hotel is located near the Pearl Tower (100 meters). The view of the room (Pudong side) was amazing but the view of "The bund" near by was breathtaking. The hotel is also near a subway station (Lu Jia Zui) that makes moving around very easy, cheap and comfortable. The hotel in general and the room were very clean. Food was excellent (breakfast buffet). Personnel was helpful, efficient and friendly. Excellent value for the money.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Use the subway to move around. It is really easy, cheap and convenient if you are not afraid of getting lost.

Near Haungpu river best view of the Bund

Far from market Subway and nightlife

Oriental River side Hotel is design for Convention and Congress Meeting. If you want to go to nearby market ,it is not an easy journey. The garden view can not see the Bund. The Bund is very nice at night. If you want to go to a nearby subway, you have to walk for 10 mins. The nearest one is Luijaijui station. If you want to go to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower,it very near just 5 min walk.I stayed there 13th-19th Oct2009.The nearest super store is the Super Brand Mall,a big one.You can enjoy lunch and dinner over there. Many good foods different styles not so expensive 50-60 Yuan for 2.It is ok.Family mart 24hr service is at the B1 level. You can enjoy shopping there.

Travel tip : Best for Convention and congress

Some rooms have very nice view of The Bund / River. Front desk can speak and understand English

I booked about 6 hotel rooms of the same category. The room that was given to me was nice. But the rooms given to the others were smaller, with obviously older furniture. The hotel should consider the older rooms at lower category so that the clients will know what to expect. - Breakfast buffet is just somewhat like that from a 3-star hotel

Oriental Riverside Hotel is an upscale hotel. Walking distance from The Bund. Choose the rooms with The Bund / River view. If you can't get a room with a good view, book another hotel like Shangri-La. Restaurants are not so great, so it will be better to eat out in restaurants.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Bund Bund Tunnel Yu Yuan Garden (a must for tourists) Eat at the popular dimsum place - Din Tai Fung (Ding Tai Feng)

Vry clean and professional. Excellent and courtious staff, well informed and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and quiet and the business center is very professional.

There were no discomfort for us however traffic around the hotel was slow and aggrevating at times as construction for next year's Expo is everywhere.

A beautiful and comfortable hotel right on the riverside with walking distance to some of the major sights. Staff speaks english good enough to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms were comfortable and quiet and the business center is very professional. The breakfast buffet is something to die for. Only 5 minutes walk to the subway station and you can drop in to see and do just about anything. Avoid taking a car or taxi as construction is everywhere and traffic is slow.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Oriental Pearl Tower. Two stations of Line 2 subway to the Bund area with plenty of shopping.

Excellent location. Large, well-appointed room with excellent bed and great view. 24-hour restaurant. Small fitness room had somewhat limited equipment but generous hours and a great view. Generally friendly staff, most of whom could speak English. Large lobby area where you can have cakes, coffee most of the day and evening.

Carpets in some public hallways were a bit tatty. Dirty room service dishes left outside a room remained there for almost 24 hours before being picked up.

This hotel has a fantastic location, with access to riverside, subway, shopping centers, restaurants, and several major sightseeing spots all within a 5-minute walk. Currently, the Bund is inaccessible because of construction for the Expo in May 2010, so all of the riverside action is on the Pudong side, making this hotel a great choice. I paid about US$60 per night and I felt it was a bargain. My room was excellent: very large, with a sweeping view from the Pearl Tower to the river. It had a huge, very comfortable bed, a flat screen TV with HBO and Max and large number of channels, and an excellent bathroom (tub and separate rain shower) and amenities. I used the fitness room several times during my stay: it was small, with a limited number and kind of machines, but the hours were generous, so I was able to exercise after dinner and a day of sightseeing. The hotel is within a 5-minute walk of the subway, so you can easily get to most sightseeing spots within 10-20 minutes (for less than US 50 cents). A taxi ride from the hotel to the Yu Gardens was quick and cheap (less than US $3). Most staff I encountered spoke fairly good English and were always pleasant and courteous. I ate at the 24-hour restaurant once, well after midnight, and I was the only one in the place (they had to turn up the lights for me). The food was acceptable but unremarkable in every way. I did not eat at their breakfast or lunch buffet because I felt there were better, more interesting options available outside the hotel. Overall, I was extremely pleased with this hotel: the location can't be beat (at the moment, at least) and the value for money was exceptional.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : The Bund Sightseeing Tunnel is just outside the hotel entrance. Guidebooks may recommend this as a Try-It-At-Least-Once-Experience, but it's not even worth that. It's pathetic. Skip it.

great views, huge room, helpful staff

too many chinese weddings help at the hotel :-)

The hotel is in a very central location right by the Oriental TV tower, we asked for a high rise room which overlooked the Bund, the views were just terrific!! The high rise rooms are all smoking rooms however after checking it out we realized that the room did not stink of cigarettes (we are non-smokers). The hotel rack rate was about $250 per night however with the agoda discount we ended up paying much less, great deal for such a huge, high quality room! There is a subway station very conveniently located approx 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

The location of the Oriental Riverside was perfect. Great views of the river and tower from our room. The bathroom was magnificent - very spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable with lovely linen.

The carpet could have been cleaner.

Our stay at the Oriental Riverside was great. The ambiance was lovely, the service prompt, the location perfect and the cost well below what we expected to pay for a five star hotel in that location. Staff could not do enough for us and made us feel very welcome with complimentary moon cakes and cookies delivered to our room in the evenings. We would definately recommend this hotel to others and stay there again when in Shanghai.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Walking along the river front in the evening and seeing the Bund from a distance.

Very central location with wiew of the river and the Bund. Close to the river walk on the Pudong side. Close to the subway for getting around other parts of the city. My price was good, but maybe it was a special offer for the holliday week.

Brekfast was not included in my price, an the price for the brekfast at the hotel was beyond any reason.

Very central location with wiew of the river and the Bund. Close to the river walk on the Pudong side. Close to the subway for getting around other parts of the city. Plenty of dining options in the near by shoppingcenter, many with good wiew of the river and Bund. This shoppingsenter is, by the way, said to be one of the biggest in the world. The prices was also European size. My price for the room was good, but maybe it was a special offer for the holliday week. The holliday week was hovever not the best time for a foreign visitor since all the billin chinese are all tourists this week. And this hotell seems to be in the center for many atractions(TV tower, river walk etc) Brekfast was not included in my price, an the price for the brekfast at the hotel was beyond any reason. This was hovever not a big problem since there was plenty of brekfast options close by. I had my brekfast at the near by Starbucks, on the riverfront. A small stall just outside the entrance of the hotel was selling Tsing Tao beer for a quarter of the price in the minibar.

Restaurant Tip : Plenty of dining options in the near by shoppingcenter, many with good wiew of the river and Bund.

Good location (Near tourist sites), Near to Metro, Many Taxi, Near to Airport, comfortable bed (Best in China), Good breakfast, got CNN/english channels

Not friendly receptionist, check in time 2pm. Many nearby restaurants & shops close around 9pm.

I will stay in this hotel again. I like the location, near to tourist sites, metro and airport. I think the best of all, they have the most comfortable bed in China. I had a wonderful breakfast. They also have CNN and some other english channels. Check in time is 2pm, No rooms were available before 2pm. Strange! Receptionist not friendly at all but can improve. Many nearby restaurants and shops close around 9pm.

Nice room & bath

No taxi coming in to hotel, have to wait for about 20 minute, this is not right, common facility a bit old, need to change.

The location is very ideal, central of new Shanghai which is Pudong , have a fantastic view of the River which is Famously called The Bund, you have a nostalgic feel of the place just like in the movie which show Shanghai in the 50th. Just opposite the Hotel you can have all the old heritage building build by European. The room bring you the charm of old shanghai in a modern way with red wooden furniture and charming bathroom. The efficient of the staff to check you in and out is good without hassle. A plus point for that. You should try it to enjoy.
