A good choice.
No complaints except the smoke smell in a non smoking room. Breakfast was great. I wanted regular eggs but only saw tea eggs. The staff asked what I wanted and came back after a few minutes with scrambled eggs. Good location to explore.

very satisfied with the stay
Pleasantly surprised with the price and facilities offered. We have stayed at some the local hotels in Shanghai previously and let me tell you, the interior decor can be a put-off. Very basic facilities yet not well maintained. Pentahotel Shanghai has a very modern, cool vibe about it. a Boutique hotel whose bulk of hotel guests are Caucasian travellers. There are no concierge but the Front Desk staff are very helpful. I have to compliment one of them. Lance has been extremely helpful and friendly right from day 1, and has contributed to making our stay here a lovely one. Location though, I would prefer if there were better dining choices around this district. It is near the train station and hotel is situated on a one-way street. There's a MacDonald's and Starbucks, a few convenient stores and a pretty decent bakery nearby. With local small shopping outlets, no major supermarket around. The only weird thing to me was their breakfast arrangement. My booking with Agoda was hotel room WITHOUT breakfast cos I tend to sleep in the wee hours and wake up around 10-nish. On the day of check-in, the front desk staff did inform that my package didn't include breakfast but was explaining along the lines that it is included anyway, and if we don't want to, just inform them the night before. To be honest, at that point of time, i was very tried from the flight and didn't pay much attention to it, just took the room keys and went off, cos I've never heard of such arrangements in other hotels before. To my surprise, upon check-out on my last day, I was billed for breakfast every single day of my stay (5 days in total b'cos we didn't inform to cancel). The front desk staff tried but couldn't override the system since it was already too late to rectify anything. I find this arrangement a bit ridiculous even though its my fault for not paying attention in the first place. It was verbal afterall, and i assumed that as long as we didn't come down to breakfast, they would have reco

Not attentive
Front desk staff are not attentive. I have left message for parcel receiving notification but no one acknowledged until I have to keep going to reception to retrieved my article.
