Every time an Agoda customer checks out of a hotel we send them an email asking them to write a review of their stay. This is the only way reviews can be submitted. Every review must then be approved by our content team before being posted on the Agoda website. Therefore, unlike many other travel sites, ALL Agoda reviews are certified and genuine.

The room was pleasant and a good size for the price. Also, from my room, I got glimpses of the river...though that won't last.
I arrived to find the hotel (described as "close to Yu Yuan Gardens, Huaihai Rd, People's Square) next to the main building site for World Expo 2010. The hotel itself was undergoing renovations so the outside was covered in scaffolding and the foyer was unbelievably noisy and dusty with concrete saws going most of the day, electrical cords running along the floor and only one lift in operation. The closest food outlet (no hotel restaurant or bar) was a 15-minute walk away...and then it was only Kentucky Fried Chicken. To get anywhere to eat or drink, I had to take a taxi for up to 20 minutes...and, due to the location, I waited up to half an hour for a taxi.
This hotel, although the room was fine, should not be operating. I chose the hotel on the basis that it was 'close to" Yu Yuan Gardens, only to find that YYG was 20 minutes away by taxi. It would take an hour to walk, through rubble and roadworks. The staff were not terribly helpful, though my attitude of horror probably didn't help. There are other hotels for the same price in better locations. They don't have to mislead people into staying. However, for Expo next year, this hotel is right on the doorstep. i wouldn't stay there again, though.
Travel tip : My tip would be "Don't stay there" unless you are in Shanghai purely for business and will be out all day.
