The room was really tiny but only 20USD man
Definitely beat some hostels here :)
And this hotel is close to a metro station （Line 4）
And there is a fabric market nearby!

Quite pleasant stay in a professionally run hotel.
Very quiet room, English-speaking staff, close to KFC and Walmart

I had a very pleasant stay for a week at the Rayfont. The room was a bit on the small size, but in every other way it was comfortable, and I particularly enjoyed reading on the small balcony that looked out onto the surrounding neighbourhood. It helps that most of the staff can speak English and can help with small queries. The hotel is NOT on a major metro line, but it's a six or seven minute walk to Nanu Bridge metro station on the circle line, and from there on one can get to central Shanghai fairly quickly by changing to one of the other lines. If you like shopping for clothes, there are some great deals to be found at the memorably named Shanghai Soft-Spinning Materials Market right next to the hotel -- it was full of people coming from central Shanghai to shop there. And there's an KFC and a Walmart less than five minutes walk away (try the egg tarts at KFC!).
