Newly renovated, modern decor, great location
Got upgrade to premier room, everything is electronic include the curtains. The service is good. The room amenities are excellent. Location is great, close to restuarants and some local shopping.

Friendly and efficient staff (who say 'Welcome back' if you've been before), good location (easy to get to Hongqiao), pleasant location (French Concession), rooms with good views, possibility to turn A/C off and open windows (very rare and very welcome), good 30(?) m swimming pool, where you can do proper lengths, good breakfast
Regal International is blessed with friendly and efficient staff (who say 'Welcome back' if you've been before); they seem well trained and motivated; it's in a good location (easy to get to Hongqiao), and the surroundings are pleasant (French Concession). Rooms are clean, well sized, with good views; there is the possibility to turn the A/C off and open windows (this is very rare in China, and very welcome if you like fresh air, like I do!); further, there is a good 30(?) m swimming pool, where you can do proper lengths. The breakfast buffet is good quality and varied. I have tried many hotels in Shanghai and keep coming back to Regal International; I can't really beat it. It represents excellent value for money.
Travel tip : If you are not a Chinese speaker, note down name and address of hotel in Chinese (or have someone do it). Not all taxi drivers know it. Even "516 Hengshan Lu" will get you there.

Cosy quiet rooms, proximity to shopping centers, subway station, food and drink outlets.
Lifts amy be crowded at times.
The hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the famous XuJiaHui district with many large departmental stores and fine restaurants. Nearer home and within 2 to 5 minutes walking distance are restaurants, bars and convenience stores, as well as the Hengshan Road subway station with direct connetion to the Shanghai Main Railway station to the north and the Shanghai South Railway station to the South. The Hengshan Xiao Guan serve delicious Cantonese cuisine is only 100 meters east of the hotel along Hengshan Road.
The room I stayed in is spacious, well furnished and well lit and convenienmt to work in.
