At the price i paid for, it should include breakfast.
Instead I felt chetaed when the first day was asked to sign a chit before having my breakfast.
After which i discovered that I was made to pay RMB200 for the breakfast buffet. Which to me is way too expensive for breakfast. I'm a small eater. Hotel guests should be informed/warned that we have to pay additional sum for breakfast. I would have opted to order ala-carte.
Other than the breakfast issue, I guest the hotel scores well in other areas.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Renaissance. If you can get a good deal online (through sites like Agoda), which include breakfast, as well as a free dinner, then it's even better. The staff were most helpful, the deluxe room was very spacious, and we loved the beds and soft pillows (very not Chinese). The breakfast was tasty, with enough variety. The location was also great. Right outside the hotel there are markets galore. It was extra special at this time of the year as all of the lanterns and decorations were up for Chinese NY. We did a lot of walking through the old alley ways. Then there's the Yu Gardens right there also. It is great having the subway right across the road also. In all, I would very much recommend this hotel - we will definitely go back.

Room was clean enough (hair on bathroom floor was off-putting). Internet was fast. Breakfast buffet was very good. Great location to walk to the Bund or take the subway.
The worst things were that we stayed near the Club Lounge in what should have been a non-smoking room, but, when you walk into the hallway, it reeks of smoke from the lounge. Also, our bathroom had a weird smell, almost like fertilizer in the water. Other than that, fine.
Also, we had a great dinner with excellent service at the Chinese resto, but, lunch was below average from a service perspective and, the food was not prepared as well or presented well.
