It is a great suprise when I arrived, the price is reasonably cheap and the room is tidy and clean, location is ok except a bit difficult to find a taxi. However, the bellboy can arrange it within 5 to 10 minutes.

chech-in was done efficiently. but air-con was either not on or temperature too high for comfort. we make a complaint but was the same. room is very spacious. breakfast ok. need taxi to go nanking road and the bund but walking distance to old shanghai. though stated city view, view was not good at all. facing renovation next door and no city in sight. many taxi driver does not know this hotel as it has changed name recently.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
You will enter old shanghai from the back, not where they normally drop you when you go as a tourist. And from this entry, you will see markets, small eateries, some old and simple home and cheaper priced shop.

rooms are clean, things in the room were relatively new, there was view of the bund from our window but partly blocked by a building in front

This is a very nice hotel with all the amenities you would expect from a good hotel. However, as they are building on the site next door, it is very noisey between 9.00 am and 5.00pm.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Very little English is spoken in most of China. Therefore it is a good idea to get place names etc that you wish to visit written down in Chinese. Always take a card from the hotel with you as taxi drivers also do not speak English.

room satisfactory after changing room 3 times due to lack of bathtub, after special request, difficulty with communication with staff generally.
Shopping Tip:
Bargain hard, very exhausting but worth it!

The hotel was clean and in a very good location.
The staff were helpful and the room was a good size.

Enjoyed a very good stay at this hotel which is very near to the "bund" area. I stayed here a year ago and it was noticeable how the level of English spoken by the staff had increased. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good value and offers western and eastern style choices.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Visit the area just behind the hotel (in the direction going away from the river) to see a fascinating market area frequented by the locals.
