Great location
Huge room
Stayed here for 4 nights during the Chinese lunar new year holidays. The location of Salvo hotel was excellent, metro station within 5 min walking distance. It is pretty much in the center of Shanghai! 5 Min taxi ride to the bund and 15 min across the river to Pudong. Staff was average in China, not too friendly nor rude. The room was huge but a bit old. For the price and location I will definitely recommend it.

Very comfortable room and bed!
Location is a big plus for this hotel and the service has improved quite a bit.
I stay in this hotel quite often because the rooms are very comfortable and the location is excellent. Very close to public transport (trains) and it is fairly easy to catch a taxi. the service has also improved too. They still have a while to go, but it is defininetly better. It is great value for

Great location, spacious suites!
Great location in middle of town, close to subway stations, many cafes nearby, and many great local eateries
we were in shanghai for business for a few days, and glad we chose the salvo hotel . it was the perfect location to get around shanghai, and just s few minute walk to the peoples square area. the room was very spacious with a separate office area, which was perfect for our stay. the breakfast buffet was soso, but average for breakfast in china. the great surprise was the japanese restaurant downstairs, sushi jin. the quality of sushi and sashimi is very high. ambiance is nice and modern.

Great location in central shanghai
location, views
For a relatively cheap hotel we had great view of the pearl tv tower and the bund. Breakfast was also included which was small/medium buffet. The only drawback is there is no wifi in the rooms you need to go to the lobby on the top floor and ask for the password each day, but it works and is fine, there is ethernet access in the rooms.

Solid hotel
a very good location, just a couple blocks away from the bund. rooms are clean, and there is a large bathtub which is a nice rarity to be had for hotels in this price bracket in china. breakfast was okay with some western options like bacon, hash browns, and coffee.

Great location but tired facilities
Location, room size
Pros: terrific location, very spacious suite, good price. Cons: bathroom needs updating, furniture extremely uncomfortable, poor internet service (wifi only in lobby), tired-looking facilities.

Nice rooms
Good location near Nathan road shopping street.
this hotel was a reasonable price. the rooms were good. the restuarant was very poor. quality of service very poor. buffet foods not presented at all well. no hot tea or coffee. hot foods not kept hot and presentable. selection very poor. waitresses and staff not at all service trained and un- professional.

Reasonably priced hotel close to the Bunt
Great executive rooms
this is a modern hotel (at least from the outside) but has a very traditional chinese interior, especially in the rooms. the contrast was quite surprising, since with a modern business hotels one is used to contemporary room designs. here the traditions did take over though ... thankfully the bed had been designed with westerner's in mind and was nice and firm, but not stone hard as often is the case in china. room itself has bedroom separate from study / living room - which is nice. large bathroom with jacuzzi style bath tub, and separate full body shower. downstairs there is a coffee shop, restaurant, lounge and a business center are located on the top of this 30 floor hotel. service in reception and executive floor checking were ok, but service in the restaurant and in the lounge was really - even against chinese standards - below average. but the bunt is close by, as are businesses, as is the pedestrian shopping street and people's square so location against reasonable roomrate will give this hotel still a chance to compete.

Good location
Convenient near to shops and eatery
The rooms are great, just that it is old and need a lot of repairs to be done.
