hotel salvo's winning point is its location. located nearby to westin hotel,one can practically walk to visit many of the popular tourist sites such as shanghai museum, the bund, yu garden and nanjing street- all within 10-20 mins walk. the nearest metro station will be at nanjing street or yu garden- about 10 mins walk from the hotel. you can find some local eateries and convenience shop practically at the hotel doorstep. overall, the hotel service is quite good except that the furnishing is a bit dated and the breakfast is nothing much to shout about.

i had great time staying at this hotel. it was easy to grab a taxi right in front. there are many restaurant and convenient stores located nearby. also there is a bar and the restaurant inside hotel. very nice view from 31st floor.

Great hotel at a great location

Really satisfied with this hotel. It's at a great location with walking distance to the Bund, Peoples Square, restaurants, bars, subway with easy access to everything you want to visit.
The business suite are most price-worthy. Big room, however no wifi. But an old computer at the room, unfortunately to old to watch my emails, but if you bring a network cable you probably could hook up.
Really clean, nice staff, good selection of restaurants at hotel (chinese, japanese, western w full buffet breakfast in the morning).
Nice view of the impressing skyline from the room.
Restaurant Tip:
Walk to People Square, take the subway line 1 on station to Huangpi Rd, take Exit 2, walk down the street to the right three blocks, inside the bulding on your right there's a shopping mall. On the second floor you will find Din Tai Fung, I had the best dumplings I ever tasted, but I guess you can try anything here. Really great food at great price.

spacious room but small toilets, value for money with breakfast included! computer is provided with free internet! 24hrs mart just opposite with several eating outlets near the hotel but slightly far from metro exit, about 10-15 mins walk

The hotel is easy to find and near to metro subway and near to good eateries. Everything is good and beautifuky laid out. and the view at the checkin at 31st floor was beathtaking and the nice cofeee and tea and cakes at checkin was very welcome too.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The bund is within walking distance and it is so lovely and peaceful there and the yu garden is only two stretts away and the staff was so nive to direct us to it altho we wanted to take a taxi

Good Hotel and helpful staff

The Hotel was fine and the breakfast buffet was ok but not great as a westerner.
The food could have been better. especially the evening meal. I found the restaurant staff to be not as helpful as the reception staff.
And the play the same boring background music everyday.
It's also a 40 minute taxi ride from the downtown area where all the great restaurants are.
depending on the traffic of course.
Nightlife Tip:
If the Salvo suits your pocket and hotels are more expensive downtown then the Salvo is for you.

We were very Happy with everything,

our 4 or 5 words of chinese were tolarated and supported...
we had a great time enjoyed the pearl tower and its view of an huge city.
traffic is amazing gone are the bikes and city street corner merging of traffic defies any semblence of order yet it works
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Pearl Tower is worth it, to grasp the cities size.
We do not like tourist attractions, but because of an article
in our local newspaper had chosen a water city tour ! it dated back to 200 BC but that was its only reason of interest to us !

The hotel with great room
It is close to the site seeing spots and the Metro station

The hotel offered the free internet connection which benefited me for such "research" and I enjoyed the trip very much.
