Good location and spacious room
Relatively good location, buffet breakfast, view, in-room kitchenette and launderette.

The locatiion is very center but no subway station within walking distance. Very often it takes quite some time to get a taxi. Buffet breakfast provides adequate selection. Room, although spacious (considering it is in Shanghai), is a bit worn-out. What really needs to be improved is the receptionist. In addition to experiencing a not-so-welcome reception upon our arrival, during the stay, we noticed several times that the receptionist was arguing with guests either checking in or checking out over various issues. It also irritated guests standing in line waiting to be served.

Decent Hotel but needs major restoration

The Howard Johnson All Suites is a good hotel for Shanghai if you like a suite feel but the rooms are quite old now. They need to do a bit of renovation to make it more appealing to long staying customers. The location is sometimes hard to get to as well, not all cab drivers know how to find the main entrance.

The area of this hotel is convenient to walk around for meals, relax etc..

dirty, uncomfortable hotel. hallways are attrociously filthy and in poor repair. room layout is hideous. carpet in the room is dirity. the hotel could not give me an iron and an ironing board to iron a shirt for the evening out. terrible. never again

Room is big with a small kitchen and living room that is really cozy.
Travel tip:
However when you need to get a taxi in the morning especially during rush hour. That is very difficult. Always queqe in line and take much time to wait.
I suggest if someone who is in a hurry to leave, walk out to the main road to get a tax may be less time consumbing compare to waiting in the hotel.

Large clean and quiet room

my only complaint about the hotel is that only wired lan internet is free, and the short cables prevent one from taking the computer to the bed, etc. guests must pay to rent a gsm router for wifi, and the rate was not cheap. my suite included a small kitchen and balcony with 2 lcd tvs. i was quite comfortable and i would stay here again (but bring my own lan cable).
