convenient location but unstable internet

the location is good, a lot of shopping mall around. you may easily find place to eat but not those small shops or restaurant with local food though.
unfortunately internet service is very unstable and keep jumping back to hotel's main page. inconvenient for business trip which you need to keep checking emails or internet search.

it is nice to see that even though it is now considered an "older" property in shanghai hotel standards (where new hotels are popping up every year), that the jc mandarin has maintained it's service standard. check-in was quick, and courteous, the suite was spacious, though had a very strong smell as if they were trying to cover some smell with carpet deodorizer. service at the club lounge was great.
Shopping Tip:
Nanjing Road is the most famous and flourishing commercial street in Shanghai . West Nanjing Road extends southwestwards from Middle Xizang Road (near People's Square) in Huangpu District to West Yan'an Road (near Jing'an Temple) in Jing'an District.

Good class hotel but room a bit too 'heavy' too woody for my liking. Also very standard amenities in the room. ( I supposed I got a good discount through Agoda so really bare minimum) Was not too impress with the hotel actually even though it is supposedly to be a good class hotel

The staff were friendly and checking in way fast and convenient. The hotel fitting were very 70’s but in a quaint way it seemed cool and caused no real problems. I enjoyed my stay.

After cruising and arrived in Shanghai, we (me and family and friends) stay in J.C.Mandarin hotel. I booked for 2 Grand rooms and 7 dlx rooms for 3 nights from June 19 until June 22, 2012. I booked for no smoking rooms, and I got it. But the room has heavy smell of smoke. I complained it and they really kind to changed the for me. I really appreciated it, because I really can't stand and uncomfortable with that smell room.
Thank you for your kindness.
I liked the artistic decoration, good service, the swimming pool, the location , that's a lot of shopping store and food around.
Next time we will stay again in J.C. Mandarin.

The hotel is a bit traditional Chinese style. Having friendly hotel staff which make us feel very safety, good location for shopping especially Brand names. Easy to travel to any other tourist attraction in Shanghai (Taxi, Subway, even by Bus).

Walking distance to Nanjing Lu and Waitan. The staff are courteous. You can borrow umbrellas from service desk. The drawback are that there is no free internet and the breakfast is ￥60/each.

The rooms are old but spacious and the hotel is very centrally located. Room service is not good but there are many food alternatives within walking distance from the hotel. Wifi is not free which is a big downside. overall, an ok stay at the JC Mandarin hotel.
