located in the tourist shopping district, near the subway rooms need to be renovated, no swimming pool Location is perfect, smacked right in the middle of Nanjing Shopping Road. Easy to navigate around because of 2 MRT stations nearby. It is also the the offices of my clients. If you like to take walks, the end of the road actually leads to the famous The Bund. Lobby is beautiful, gym has great equipments. Staff are nice. I was given a free upgrade. But the room is quite old and i didn't like it that my bed is facing the window. Overall, i would recommend this hotel for business travellers and tourist (med to high budget)
Travel tip : go into the side streets if you're looking for really cheap local food.

Good service, comfortable rooms Recently I visited Shanghai for a four day adventure and stayed at the Sofitel Hyland. I found the hotel to be comfortable, the bed was firm with high quality linen and duvets, the bathroom well stocked with impressive products, and the staff more than willing to help in any way. Would I stay there again? Probably not. What I found to be a drawback was the location. Although centrally located, the fact that the hotel faces Nanjing Road, makes for unpleasant departures if you are on foot. Hawkers swarm around trying to tempt you with fake Prada bags and Rolex watches. Although a good hotel with much going for it, the location was a drawback.
Restaurant Tip : Good noodle stop in the back alley just down from the hotel.

The hotel had very good customer service and my room was very confortable. I had breakfast in the clube member room and the food was outstanding. People were friendly and always available when requested. The only issue that I had was the internet that did not work for three hours and when it did it was running very slow.
