close to the Pudong Airport

usually i book the ramada hotel when i have an early flight the next morning. the ramada hotel is very close to pudong airport, but the rooms are small, old fashioned, the atmosphere in the entry hall and the restuarant is very cold and the food is not delicious at all. so i tried the ex howard johnson qube hotel which is a little bit more far away, but still close enough not to stuck in the traffic jam.
pros:
close to the airport
nice, cleaned up rooms (4, not 5 star level), quite, comfortable bed
food (spaghetti, beef salad were very delicous, coffe was cold and cheescake almost frozen when i ordered the room service)
cons:
service: the receptionist is very efficient, but i expect more friendlyness on a 4star level. i was not asked if i want a smoking room and then had to change it to a non-smoking. it's difficult to mention some examples, it's just the atmosphere which is quite cold compared to other 4 and 5 star hotels in shanghai and changzhou were i usually stay.
airport shuttle only once an hour

Room was large, modern and clean. Nice and warm in winter. Free internet a bonus.
Restaurant Tip:
Quite a few restaurants next door, including McDonalds if you are sick of Chinese food.

We stayed there on an overnight layover so it was convenient for us. We basically arrived, ate dinner, slept, then woke up early to go back to airport. The free shuttle bus to the airport was convenient but it leaves at set times so we arrived too early to check into our flight, but not a big deal. The chinese restaurant we ate dinner in was very tasty. The only complaint was that it took forever for our orange juice to be served.

I had stayed for a brief stay, overnight on business. The suit room was excellent value. Good location close to the airport. The food and service was very good for China. The excutive floor was great for a business traveller.
Hotel Feature Tip:
STay away from the hotel Spa.

The Qube was perfect for my daughter and I the night prior to flying out of Pudong Airport. We had a nice quiet, comfortable room with all the expected extras in a 5 star hotel. We booked the airport shuttle, which is free of charge, and departs every half hour. Breakfast is an international mix with options for every one and a children's play room adjoining the dining area.

Nice modern design hotel, with airport transport, large room, good for a night before early flight in the morning. don't have time to enjoy the breakfast as my flight is really early though.

good hotel if you are uncertain of shanghai traffic to and fro airport and town.
only 15 minutes from the hotel to the airport from their airport shuttle bus.
would recommend if you like to lie down on your last day at shanghai before heading in the early flight.
price could be lower of the place compared to central shanghai area which over the same pricing.
