All is quite well, but the staffs communicate a little English. It makes me to difficult to ask the information. I think if the light is not turn off for a long hours. It's better than

pleasant hotel with good location
6.3
The decoration is nice, and location ideal to access the old town without being in the noisy and crowded area.
The staff at the front desk were really not helpful and could use a smile.

old tibetian house , nicly decirated

the room is very small and the floor wasn't so clean, beside that the room was well decorated and the location is 5 minutes walk from the old city.

Decent hotel just on the edge of the old town
Nicely decorated, Tibetan-style hotel with comfortable rooms
6.7
we enjoyed our stay here - shangri-la is a very relaxed place to hang out for a few days, with lots of good daytrips into the mountains possible. the hotel was nice and comfortable, and good value for money, although you certainly won't be blown away by it. it's just on the edge of the old town, slightly away (5-10 minutes walk) from the old town restaurants and bars, which you might see either as a good or bad thing. service wasn't very friendly or helpful, but the rooms had all the facilities we needed.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Daytrip to the Snow Mountain is highly recommended. Like everything in China, they've tried to Disney-fy it, but if you take the cable car right to the top and then just hop the fence where it says "staff only", you get away from the megaphones blaring "traditional" music, gift shops and naff fake local dancers out into the most tranquil and beautiful mountain scenery which stretches for miles with only you and some yaks for company.

Tibetan style hotel, family run, cosy rooms
Not your fancy 5stars hotel
10
A nice tibetan style hotel. Out of the ordinary, not your fancy hotels, a unique experience. It provides heater/ac as well as 24hrs of hot water. It's located near the old town where you can find a number of cafes, restaurants, street food places and gift/souvenir shops. Easily accessible from the airport, just a 5-10mins drive, do not pay anything more than 25rmb. Staff are friendly, family run. Wifi is available, and the speed is acceptable.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
A must see in Shangri-La is Meilin Snow Mountain, which is 8hours drive from Shangri-La. Suggest to stay there for a night in order to watch sunrise the next morning, before heading back to Shangri-La. Highly recommended to stop on the way there/back at smaller towns.

This is a very bad place to stay, there are much better places, even for the price. Most of the time, there was no electricty, the staff was rude, and no one was there to give me my deposit back, only a kid about 10 years old who did not know what to do. I should have stayed in my tent and used my sleeping bag the whole time, I did that for two day and had a much better time.

Avoid this hotel at all costs. The staff is horrible. The rest of the staff must have left because of the power outage that lasted my whole stay. My say was so bad that I will have to call my credit acrd company and amke a charge back. I had to leave a few days early to get clean sheets, and check into another hotel. I was totally ignored, this has never happened to me , anywhere. The good news is that I found a great hotel , the Plaza hotel, a great place, I will stay there next time. The Gao yuan hong was a real nightmare of a place, nothing was good about it at all.
