Convenient, Extremely good Value for Money, Nice Location for Shopping.
Lack of English, Road work going on near the Hotel.
The hotel was strategically located for shopping. About 15 minutes walking from the nearest Underground Station. One has to walk through the vibrant Dongmen shopping area. Me and my wife loved every moment of that walk !
The hotel itself is good enough. Large rooms, we used a business suite, divided into a sitting area and a sleeping area.
Due to road construction work in front of the hotel, it is a bit noisy in the day.
Lots of wonderful eating places close to the hotel with delicacies I dream about everyday even as I write this.
Friendly staff and people made our trip wonderful.
Shopping Tip : Bargain. bargain like crazy!! The shopkeepers expect it. They enjoy it as much as you will.
Try to get a local to be with you to help with the translation. We were very lucky to have a young girl, Cathy, to help show us around. We never needed to order food...... lol...... she did and we never regretted it. She went out of her way to help me with meeting vendors and in negotiations and with translation.

Very spacious rooms good location for shopping and business
Very hard beds
Shuttle bus to the border had been discontinued
We have stayed at the Metropark before and have found it very convenient and comfortable except for the beds. there is a supermarket across the road and our room (delux) had a little kitchen with full size fridge and microwave. There was even a washing machine in the kitche which came in handy. Polite staff and reasonbly clean however the bathrooms and rooms in general are probably due for an update.
Travel tip : Ask the desk to write where you want to go in Chinese on one of their cards so you don't get lost or taken for a ride.
