Full of charm and history, the Pingjiang Lodge comprises original Ming Dynasty housing and antiquities to create an authentic Chinese experience.

Nearby lie many more mementos of China’s past, the Kunqu Museum and Pingtan Museum both within walking distance of the hotel. There is nothing unusual about the traditional charm of Pingjiang Lodge; it seems really old because it is. One of a new breed of ‘Culture’ hotels, the main hall of this property – a compound that consists of four separate houses – is more than 450 years old and the artifacts found inside span dynasties. The rooms continue the theme – ornate wooden Ming beds and views over the adjacent canal transporting guests to another time. Fortunately, services are somewhat more modern and complimentary internet is offered on-site, as is a proper continental breakfast.

Very old styled room with antique furnitures. Very beautiful courtyard setting. Interesting street to watch the daily lives of people with also modern cafes. Convenient to shopping and attractions (either by walking or tourist bus).

Bathroom water pressure is low. Old musky smell in the room. Service is barely OK.

Overall is a very interesting stay but not for too long (over a weekend is just nice). However, for those who like their modern amenities, this may not be a suitable hotel. Food is available nearby (within walking distance) and there are some nice modern cafes outside the hotel. It is nice to spend some time at the cafe and watch the locals come and go doing their daily stuff. However, food at the hotel outlet is just OK (nothing great).

Location is perfect. Room is unique. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful.

can't find anything i dislike about Ping Jiang Lodge.

Can hardly find such a unique hotel in Suzhou. The hotel itself is already a piece of art. The environment around the hotel is also very beautiful. Do take a stroll down the street behind the hotel, there is a tea chapter and eating place worth visiting.

Restaurant Tip : The restaurant 土灶馆(somewhere along ping jiang road, very near to ping jiang lodge) serve great food.

Located around the corner from a quaint walking street. Restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. Transported back in time.

Even though it was Spring and not cold outside, our room was very chilly.

This hotel, though a little expensive was definitely worth it for the experience. I highly recommend this hotel, and I would return there if in Suzhou again. It is a much nicer option to Chinese hotels.
