This hotel was built in the early 1900’s but was taken over in 2002 and refurbished and now serves guests who come to visit the business district. Originally built by a British company, this hotel was constructed in 1923 when there was not much else going on in Tianjin. It was bought by a Sino-Singaporean company in 2002 and renovated to its present modern style. Imperial Palace Hotel is close to the commercial as well as shopping hub of the city. Guests staying at this hotel might enjoy an evening trip to the Golden and Culture streets. The hotel includes a health club, games room, night club, currency exchange as well as night concierge service.

I cannot recommend this hotel to any foreign (non-Chinese) visitor.
The hotel did not know how to handle the check-in for foreign visitors, did not know how to charge with credit cards and cannot be in the same rank as other international or western style hotels.
