hotel is large & easy to find (by taxi drivers), hotel food ok, travel desk on 2nd floor very helpful. the non smoking room smells of smoke (but then it does have an astray in it). touts working outside the hotel will approach you every time you set foot outside. the decor is a little old & faded and brown, and the lighting is a little dim.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
the travel desk on the second floor will arrange the trip to the Warriors & Banpo, and evening entertainment if required.

We have been staying at the Bell Tower hotel from time to time over the past decade. What brings us back is the superb location in the walled city, next to the old bell tower. It is also convenient as a drop off point for the airport shuttle to and from the airport. Ask for the larger room facing the bell tower. The room appointments and fixtures haven't changed for 10(or more)years and are in urgent need of an update and or makeover, especially in the bathroom.

all of the sights in the old city are withing 5 minutes of the hotel. the hotel opens up on the bell tower and you can see the drum tower as well. the room was ok but it's location made up for it being a bit small and hot.

The location of the hotel is wonderful. It is just opposite the drum and bell tower. The best thing is that if we take the airport shuttle from Xian airport at 26 yuan per person, the shuttle stop is just 3 mins walk away to the hotel.
As for the room, it is just basic. Nothing to rave about.

The airport bus stops just around the corner. Close to buses, metro and taxis. The rooms are large though ours had no good views. There s always someone on the counter who speaks good English.
Breakfast is not included but a good breakfast with western and eastern food is available for 60 RMB per person. There is a chef to prepare your eggs.
Restaurant Tip:
Around the corner and 100 metres past the Melody hotel is the Star Ferry Restaurant. Fantastic food at very cheap prices. Be sure to try a cup of tea - it seems expensive but is a wonder to behold.

this hotel is at the heart of china - exactly in the middle of xi'an, the ancient capital (chang'an). if you ask for a room with a view you look out on the bell tower and the bustling roundabout which surrounds it. it is within the old city wall, so history is close at hand.

beautiful room with good service and excellent view. lighting could be slightly improved though. good location for higher class shopping and familiar places like mcdonalds, starbucks. near to the main attractions such as the wall, the forest of steles, the moslem market, the pagoda. an airport bus is closeby but allow plenty of extra time as this city is seriously congested with traffic, most of the time. near the pagoda park there is activity up till about midnight - the people come out to play and there is dancing below the city wall worth seeing.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
good central place to be to arrange easy sightseeing. if you stay further out it is often difficult to get a taxi to stop specially round 4 - 6pm. i stayed further out in the suburbs before coming in to the bell tower hotel.

this is very important truth for to tell every traveler who has allergy for msg in food, i got big problem for food at second floor buffet, when i ask waiters three times that got three different answer oh my godness !!!!!, so 99% food within msg then i got sick, also too much salty,oily ,as my age that needs quality not quantity ,by the way,at the corner of street which the mickey d has no coffee supply, oh my, no more chance next time.
