Great Location and comfortable
Best located at a tourist place and commercial area

I enjoyed staying in this hotel. It is located opposite the Bell Tower, and within walking distance to other tourist areas such as Muslim street, and commercial areas. The room is comfortable. Air conditioner needs to upgrade though. When I first checked in, the room facing the Street was not cool enough ( maybe facing the afternoon sun ). The hotel changed my room to the back view. This cooled the room , but I lost the street view.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
The Muslim street is a great experience, with unique exotic food such as roast lamb

we had a wonderful time thanks to the extremely helpful staff. there was a bit of an issue finding our reservation because we had booked with agoda more than a month in advance, but once it was found everything went smoothly. we were right next to the infamous bell tower and drum tower, only a 15 min walk from the city wall, and only 10 min away from the mosque and muslim quarter. the location enabled seeing the towers and muslim quarter at night without worrying about getting lost in the city, and the staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
If visiting the Muslim Quarter, it is best to go at night when it is buzzing the most! Also, be forewarned that the Terracotta Warriors are a good 45 min out in moderate traffic.

I was given a double bed as being told that the King size bed were not available which was a bit disappointed though i requested it when booking. I requested a room nearer to the lift yet i was given a room that's the furthest away from lift.
The room is a bit noisy since it's facing the main road which. This is something that you can't avoid if you want to choose a room facing the bell or drum tower.
When i asked the concierge tourist spots, he just told me to go to a travel agency at the 2nd floor.
Hotel Feature Tip:
I booked a deluxe room, but i dont' think the room worth it! However, the location is good. Only bad thing is it's extremely hard to get a taxi at the roadside outside of hotel. And the the traffic is always bad ...
The bed is not that comfortable, maybe it's too old.

Good location but staff can be friendlier

My stay was with my wife and daughter. We needed a place that was close to all the attractions and also were looking for value for money as we would not be staying in the hotel for long periods. THe rooms were basic but clean . The main advantage was the location of the hotel which was near to most of the attractions and also near to the food markets which was the highlight of the trip.

Excellent location opposite the Bell Tower

This is a pleasant hotel situated right in the centre of Xian and is ideal for visiting the main city sites. Bell Tower is just opposite and the City Wall via the South Gate can be reached in 10 minutes on foot. Staff are OK as are the rooms, though nothing special. Overall recommended as a decent, if not particularly memorable, place to stay in Xian.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Good bus service to Terracotta Warriors and / or Hot Springs - from bus station just OUTSIDE the North Gate. Bit chaotic, but you need Bus 6 and most people know it and will point you in the right direction if you show the number and are clearly a tourist. Much cheaper than taking a taxi.

Perfect location in the heart of Xi'an

The Bell Tower Hotel is in an amazing location - directly staring at the Bell Tower itself, with the Drum Tower and shopping district next door. It's a 4 star hotel, and the lobby and the rooms reflect that. My girlfriend and I asked for our room to be changed, and the desk staff were incredibly helpful, giving us a romantic room overlooking the town square.
However - the showers are below standard. Also, don't book a tour through the hotel - we paid more than 100 yuan more than other couples who had booked the same trip through the internet or hostel. Additionally, the trip wasn't particularly good and the service was awful.
Also, don't visit the spa for a massage in the hotel. The staff looked surprised my girlfriend and I were there, and we were taken into a room with a massage table...and a bed. Hmm.
DON'T book a taxi through the hotel - they will call an unlicensed car which costs double that of a metered taxi. Instead, when going to the airport, go 5 minutes around the corner where the airport shuttle bus will take you for only 26 yuan.
The breakfast isn't very good either. I hate to say it, but there's a Starbucks around the corner, so go there instead.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
DON'T book trips through the hotel. Go through the internet or a hostel. The tour guide may also try to cheat you out of sightseeing - we paid to visit 4 attractions, and the guide only wanted to show us 2 claiming the others 'weren't worth seeing.' Be strong and firm, and demand what you paid for and a compromise can be reached (even if it's not ideal).
If you want to visit attraction such as the big goose pagoda, take a taxi as it's incredibly cheap.

A bit disappointed with this hotel...

I booked this hotel on a recommendation from a friend.
I booked it online and requested a non-smoking room with a view of the Bell Tower. I ended up with a room which smelt like an ashtray and a view of a carpark and filthy buildings; however I was apparently 'upgraded' to a two room (lounge area and bedroom). The bed was hard as a rock and in fact I think the carpet (which was filthy) would have been softer - however most hotel beds in China are particularly firm. One could be deceived when entering the lobby as it's nice and clean but the room I was given was not.
TV had about 40 channels - nothing in English except CCTV News.
The standard of English was poor, I wanted a massage however the masseuse did not know any English and after using hand gestures trying to explain that I wanted a firmer massage, I gave up in the end.
It does have free broadband (as does many Chinese hotels) but no WiFi.
It was rated as a four-star hotel but hotels outside of major cities tend to be overrated, I would rate this (or at least my room) at perhaps two and a half, three at a stretch. I stayed in another four-star hotel in Chengdu and it was far superior to The Bell Tower Hotel.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
It is close to the Bell Tower and some major shopping centres, not far from the City Wall.

Great location but small room

The location is really great. Located in the historic city wall area. But the room is dirty, a bit old, and not clean. Asked for an extra bed it was very wobbly, bad bed, and broken. I was only staying for one night so it's bearable. But, would not return to this hotel.
