I asked for a pick up at the airport but no one showed up.
We arrived quite late at the hotel and no one took us to our room. The reception gave us wrong directions (wrong floor) we ended up wandering in the long corridors. Kind of scary- overlook hotel feeling.
On the day of our departure the electronic lock ran out of battery. No one could enter the room. it took them one hour to solve the issue.
The rooms are nice and the staff helpful but these are small things that ruined a little bit the feeling.

Central location but old installations

i have contacted the hotel before making the reservations due to finding two links ( mercure and grand mercure) in the same address but with different pricing. i was told grand mercure was a 5-star hotel so i booked the hotel which seemed to be a lower price for a 5 star hotel.
when i arrived at the hotel was very disappointed at the old building and the so claimed 5 star hotel was more like a 4 star hotel to me. so it was priced as a five star hotel but with 4 star hotel. i was better off either choosing mercure for their cheaper price or sofitel as a 5 star hotel (all at the same address). staff training was lacking in comparison to sofitel service (i went to both hotels to check it).

We were two families traveling and they gave us two adjacent rooms with a hallway sitting area. the rooms were small but adequate, the bed was huge and the bathroom large with a great tub. The sitting area was well used by us.
The hotel was connected to two other hotels in the square with many expensive restaurants to choose from.
There is a large Ren Ren Le food store just a block and a half away beside the KFC.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We walked just 20 minutes down to the Muslim quarter and enjoyed the street snacks and sites. We rode the three wheel taxi back.

I would strongly recommend! Good staf, many choices of restaurants, very tasty and varied breakfast, near all the sites yet a quiet, reserved and elegabt palce
Travel tip:
remember to ask at reception to write in chinese all the addresses you need, not many people speak english or understand english alphabet

Wasn't very impressed. Really wanted to go to the pool, but it was in an entirely different area of the hotel. Wanted to have Brazilian dinner but the restaurant wasn't finished yet. Expensive to get to the Terracotta Warriors using the hotel's service.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
Take a bike ride on top of the wall, approx. 1 hour. So cool!
