Barebones Chinese-style hotel, get what u pay for!

This is my second time staying at Han Guang Men Hotel, and I must say I saw more into it that I didn't like. The plumbing has an awful sewer-smell, which prompts me to close the sink orifice. They barely replace the toilet paper even if it's been out a couple of days. The staff are nice, but barely understand English. It took me 15 minutes to explain that I wanted to pay for an extra day, and Agoda users, be sure to bring your printed receipt of payment, as they kept (on both instances) asking me to pay cash for the whole stay, even after I told them repeatedly that I had paid and showed them my receipt.
They claim to have a restaurant, but it is definitely not foreigner-friendly. The menu has no pictures and is in Chinese, and sometimes if the chef doesn't feel like working, he will tell you the restaurant is closed - even at 1:15pm on a weekday!! If you end up eating at the wrong time, in case you are served, the whole staff will come down for their meal and huge plates will be arranged at a table next to you, which they will hoard, trying to get some food, not very quietly, while you try to enjoy your meal.
I stayed here twice because it was close to an institute where I work, however I would not recommend it, as it's far from tourist attractions and the service is not what I could expect from a 3-star hotel.

You can book a discounted room through Agoda, and they will let u continue paying the same rate in cash for additional days without needing to go back online and make another booking.

although most staff did not speak much english, they always found a way to help me - service with a smile. the rooms were affordable and if i ever wished, they served food in the lobby. the only point that really annoyed me was that the internet connection would sometimes malfunction, although i was told by one of the staff members that the network was being replaced and therefore unstable. sometimes there was smoke smell in the elevator, but for china, it could have been a lot worse. over all i enjoyed my time here. although i didn't come for sightseeing, so it was okay that it was not in the center.
