Excellent service

I am in Xi'an teaching government officials English. I stayed at the Sofitel one weekend and the employees were so helpful especially Kevin, the bellman he spoke English with me and helped me to the front desk with my luggage and made sure I was in the correct location. Because the employees (Kevin, Candy, Jasmine, Sophie, Annie and Josephine) I decided to come back on my next weekend off. They made my stay so enjoyable and comfortable that I wanted to return. Also, the pool/fitness center staff were very helpful. I loved the swimming pool area because the days in Xi'an are very hot and the swimming pool is a great way to cool down. I originally chose the hotel for this reason. But, returned because of the excellent service and friendly staff. I will recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Xi;an.

I had an extremely wonderful time at the Sofitel Xian on Renmin Square! It was exceptional. The staff was outstanding and service was exceptional by American standards. The spa, pool and exercise room were well staffed and well maintained with excellent services. It is an interesting 20 minute walk to many of the historical areas of Xi'an. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for an upscale hotel with excellent amenities.

Despite calling itself a luxury hotel, staying at Sofitel Xi'an is NOT to be expected of a luxury service. Front desks and lounge staff speaks OK English, but not the staff in the breakfast area as well as the SPA.
The location is actually not that great since you have to catch a taxi to go to even the closest attraction - the drum tower,the bell tower & city wall, if you walk it's about 20 minutes. I'd recommend local hotels that are located in a walking distance to these attractions rather than this mediocre Sofitel.

overall wonderful experience. all staff are well trained and provide surperb services to hotel guests. located in the centre of the city but a bit far from shopping area. dining within the hotel is a not bad idea. plenty choices are there, including mexican, japanese, chineses and european cuisine.

Beautiful hotel with big flaws

Hotel has fantastic service and great staff. Locations was short walking distance to shopping and siteseeing. But rooms were deceptively small. Loud music played on the street starting at 5:30am, had to put my earplugs in. Also, there was a sewage smell coming from the drains.
