My favorite hotel in Zhuhai, quiet atmosphere

one year ago i selected this hotel based on price, and i returned three times because i was satisfied with the service and location. only a 5 minutes taxi ride from the ferry from hong kong.
breakfast is simple but sufficient, i liked the fitness room.
english speaking staff is helpful and friendly.

We stayed for 2 nights, we enjoyed our stay very much especially with free English movies on the TV. The matresses were really comfortable and loves the pillow service where you can choose from 3 kinds of pillows for your comfort. The staff was great they are always there to help you with translations and how to get around the city.
Restaurant Tip:
Go to the Old Tree Cafe down the street for breakfast, it has abigger selection of food and better prices than the hotel.

I have stayed at this Hotel before and will return.The rooms are first class and the biggest I have found in China.The service is excellent apart from the small language thing.The ferry is a short taxi ride and transport not to hard to find. The little shop accross the road has the coldest beer in China.

Good location and friendly service
Locaction was fairly central and walking distance to most places for shopping in the core area. The restaurant food was fair and reasonably priced by western standards. Very, Very Friendly and helpful staff. The concierge service was better than most I have seen.Reasonable value for the room rate but facing the mountain also meant facing the less attractive part of the rear of the hotel.

This is not a 4 or 5 star hotel so all things kept in perspective, the value was good for the rate. The a/c, the Flat screen TV and the general comfort and cleanliness of the room and hotel was excellent without a lot of frills. Since I prefer to walk for exercise a fair amount, this hotel was satisfying for my needs. Taxis were reasonably priced although not much English is spoken by the locals. More than half the people working at the Catic spoke some English though so this made the visit more agreeable.
Nightlife Tip:
If you are looking for nightlife, do your homework well in advance of visiting Zhuhai because it is available but not easy to find without the help of a local that speaks English as well as Chinese and also is familiar with the popular spots. Prices are a bit higher here than in cities furtyher into the mainland but having a higher sense of security walking at night makes the price easier to live with. Nice and close to Macau if gambling is your passion.

Excellent Hotel and very accommodating
The people providing service were outstanding. Hotel was clean and quiet for sleeping.Within reasonable proximity to restaurants and shopping. Taxi fares made travel very easy and low cost.

Generally I felt the Catic was a good value for the money and would consider staying there again if the choice of beds and mattresses were available. The facilities that are advertised need to be brought back to a more respectable level. There was some disappointment in the condition of the gym and other creature comfort aspects that were expected but poorly provided. The Catic knows what needs attention. Now they just need to do something about it. As a place to stay, it was adequate and 'right priced'.
Restaurant Tip:
There are plenty of restaurants serving seafood in the Zhuhai area. I found that the Catics Guest Services [concierge] were quite helpful in recommending places to visit and things to do. The entire community of Zhuhai is very relaxing compared to larger and higher population areas in China. Their are about 1 million in the Zhuhai district but it feels like much less than that. Night-life is almost zero unless you are with someone to help with the language but I certainly did not try every venue so keep an open mind.

water display was good and different senior staff good others under trained it appears three tries before the correct ice cream was delivered ?

not a attraction for the westerner the chinese food is totally different to the western style more greasy and salty.
club sandwich had brown chicken meat and under cooked streaky bacon. all staff polite but some not well trained. there are better hotels in same price range.
